Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone knew what kinds of benefits you get from Jumping rope?

I have heard that it is really good for you.

Thanks,Margaret

All I know is that it burns an obscene amount of calories, so I bought one the other day. Haven't used it yet, but look forward to it this week.

Jumping rope does burn a ton of calories, but it is also very difficult to keep it up for a long amount of time. You may want to start out slowly. Warm up with some walking and stretching. Then jump for 1-2 minutes (or as long as you can) then resume walking until you catch your breath. Repeat.

There is also a lot of different "choreography" for jumping rope.
    Basic Double Foot Jump
Skipping (like running while you jump rope)
    Single Foot Jump
Boxer's Shuffle (alternate putting one foot in front of the other when you land)
    Jumping Jacks

My opinion is that it is one of the best cardio activities you can do. Boxers swear by it and they are some of the fittest people on the planet!

Check out the link below. It lists some of the benefits and gives you some how-tos.
