Unhealthy doctor back again! Looking for supportive friends

I'm 29 years old, trying to start a family but being unsuccessful because of my weight. I've tried for years, managed to lose 80+ pounds 4 years ago but did it in an unhealthy way and have since gained it all back and then some. On top of this, I'm a family medicine doctor and would really love to practice what I preach. There's so much guilt of talking about healthy lifestyles at work then coming home and making not great decisions.
I would love to build community this time around, really think that is what has been missing from my last times on MFP. Feel free to send a request my way, looking forward to meeting people!

Hey the good news is you know how to do it, you don't have to prove to yourself that you can. 80lbs is a testament to the process and that took a lot of fortitude to accomplish. Give yourself some grace, life happens and everyone's life changed pretty dramatically the past 2 years. The best is you have the know how (doctor) and motivation (start a family and be a better doctor!) to take this goal and achieve it. It is tough to feel guilty, but imagine the inspiration you can be to your patients and people who know you. I know I deal with the guilt too being an educator and former athlete but it's worth all the struggle if you can help others too right?2

I’m almost 50 pounds into my second time around. I used to be athletic and rode a unicycle and all that cool stuff. But thyroid and lousy doctors (nothing personal) and a bunch of other stuff threw me for a loop and now here I am.

I'm a 33 year old doctor also looking to make positive long term change, and use the community to help achieve that.
I've got a couple of kids, and wish I'd made this decision before I had two little ones to chase around, but there's no better time than right now!2 -
One of the things that kicked me into gear was my gastroenterologist looking me in the eye, telling me weight loss would probably solve my debilitating GERD (it did!) and to my amazement, telling me,”you can do this. If I can lose it, you can lose it”.
I’m astonished at some of the things MFP members claim their doctors have told them regarding weight loss. Apparently you all get very little education in nutrition. I get it. There’s a shed load of human body to cover.
The knowledge and generosity of long time MFP members is a great resource, and it’s at your fingertips. Amateur, perhaps, but a solid foundation in “real world trials”.4 -
You are very right! I spent some elective time choosing to learn more about nutrition and working with specialists, both doctors and not, because it was an interest of mine but otherwise most doctors get very little training about nutrition. I've had other doctors as recently as last month give me misinformation and also be very condescending about my weight, I can only imagine the things that they say to others. That being said, very excited to be here!! Only a few days and already feeling the huge difference of getting advice and support from people in all stages of this journey 💕3

I’m so happy you’re here, doing something for yourself.
I’d sing the virtues of weight loss from the rooftops if I could, but I’ve already learned very few people care, and 99% of those who do have to go through the false maze of “popular” weight loss solutions first.
So I guess that makes us One Percenters!
I’ll repeat to you what he told me, though:
If I can do this, you can do this!
And please, some day pass it along to a patient who needs it as much as I did.4 -
I’m in a similar situation, except I’m about to start clinical rotations for physical therapy and, even though I exercise regularly, I eat a lot of garbage and that makes it hard for me to stay in shape. For me, not only is it the food, but because of classes I’m not as active throughout the day like I would like, and then of course stress adds to weight retention. You can do it, you just have to be conscious and deliberate about what you do and how you do it. Good luck!2
