Hi, I'm Robyn and I'm old (52) and very grumpy...

I am a firm believer in Health at Every Size and am very anti-diet but now that I'm done with menopause, my blood sugar has decided to forsake me and be wayyyy too high.
So here I am. A Grumpy Old Women Who Needs to Lose Weight.
I've even created a group if you'd like to join in?

Sad that you think you’re already “old” at 52!! That’s not at all old😂
Good luck in your journey.4 -
I agree with @forestfreek
You are not that old, just reaching middle age. My kids are your age and I am approaching my late 70s and I feel younger (except when my OA reminds me that I am not )
I wish you good luck in your journey, but if you don't consider yourself "old" you will not be grumpy anymore, and probably more successful in achieving your goals. You got this!3 -
52? Not old. Practically a kid. 😉 (I'm 65, F.)
I was only a few years younger than you when I started getting more active (latter half of my 40s, already in menopause by then from chemotherapy, hypothyroid, too). Reasonable fitness is still achievable, even starting late. Gradual but consistent progression is kind of magical.
Heck, pretty amazing fitness is still achievable. Consider Madonna Buder (started training at 48), Ernestine Shepherd (started training at 56). Realistically, though, most of us won't have that level of consistency, probably.
I didn't lose weight from class 1 obese (where I'd been for over a decade despite being active) to a healthy weight until I was 59-60. Doing so resolved my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. Still at a healthy weight 5+ years later. It's doable, not always easy every minute, but it was way simpler than I'd imagined.
I'm pretty grumpy, but I just consider it a personality, at this point. 🤷♀️ I'm probably not a good candidate for your group, being at a different spot on the road right now; but thank you for the invitation.
I do wish you great success, sincerely, though: It's within reach.5 -
Middle age? You think I’m going to live to 104?!3

Have been grumpy but determined to get over it.3

48 here...people see the word "grumpy" as such a negative. Weirdoes. So I refer to myself as "occasionally cantankerous".2

I'm only 37, but I've been old and grumpy my entire life. (Hitting 35 and realizing I could call myself "middle aged" has been a high point in my life so far.) I'm joining. Dare you to kick me out.0
