I was out for a nice run last night when I realized my shorts were too big and they started to chafe. So I need some new running shorts. What do you guys use and what do you suggest? Thanks for the help.

I have some new Adidas shorts that fit nice, especially on long runs. I wish I knew the model name, but they are brand new.

Have you thought about wearing some light-weight runner's underwear under your current shorts? or some Underarmor workout briefs?

Yup, that thought had definitely crossed my mind. I'll probably look into compression shorts, or shorts like the first ones mentioned that have the compression short built in. Thanks for the response.

I wear compression shorts under my running shorts. They help a lot, they can be found at Target, not to expensive.

not sure on shorts but adidas makes an athletic brand of under wear. They remind me of ultra thin spandex shorts. I usually have no problems if going 6m - 8m. cant comment on anything further, i have only ran 1 half so far.

    Fwiw...

When my PI shorts are dirty, i wear under armor compression boxer brief underwear under my other running shorts (adidas, saucony, brooks). The UA helps, but still doesnt come close to the pearls for function and comfort.

I like pockets (must have) so I have a bunch of Nike 7" trail shorts that I wear for most of my runs. For races or when it gets humid or rainy I wear New Balance 5" shorts.

Once I find something I like, I tend to buy a lot of them.

I also wear Brooks or NB compression shorts under all my running shorts.

I was at TJ Maxx the other day and they had some nice Nike Pro Combat compression-ish boxer briefs for $15. I bought a pair to try and they are really nice, might go back for more. They also had some nice Calvin Klein ones that I like too, even if they are a bit to "glam" for workouts.

Just an FYI for people who want some nicer stuff without paying the higher price tags.

I have a couple basic running shorts in asics & UA that are good. I also like the UA briefs, very comfy, no chaffing & then I have a couple pair of lightweight addidas shorts I wear over those.

I have UA Men's Escape II shorts. I love them. They are super light weight and I never have any problems with chaffing/rubbing in them. They are also long enough to wear as a general purpose athletic activity short but are very thin and cool.

Also have a pair from Mizuno that I really like.

I prefer the kind that have a built in brief (similar to swim trunks). I own a pair of Asics, Nike, and Underarmour. They're all about the same in terms of comfort. I just buy whatever's on the clearance rack at the running store.

I personally just bought a couple pair at REI, the REI brand. They are very nice...the lightweight material with the underwear built into them. I think they ran me about $30 a pair.
