I have seen several references to Walden Farms products on these boards...I am wondering if y'all can tell me what you like (and what you don't) so I can give their stuff a try? The whole no fat, no calories, no sugar seems too good to believe. They even have a peanut butter spread?! Anyway....I don't want to just order a bunch of stuff to throw it away. Ya know?

Thanks for any input!

  • A lot of people love it. I for one, dont. :ohwell:
  • I've tried them- they're OK- I prefer them on other things more than as a salad dressing- like baked potatoes, scrambled eggs.
I did NOT care for the coleslaw dressing AT ALL.

They're good to mix in w/ other lower cal brands- to stretch the other out further. 1 T. Walden + your second choice name brand
  • I think the balsamic vinaigrette is decent, but the ranch dressing and the peanut butter are just god aweful! Terrible! That's all I've tried so far from them.
  • Did not like the Salad dressing (Ranch Bacon) - do like the Sauces/syrups to add to my protein shakes. Caramel, Chocolate, strawberry.

Carmel is not as good by itself with fruit.
The chocolate is okay over cut fruit pieces, with non fat cool whip on top.

Just ordered blueberry, and marshmallow dip, but have not received yet.

Vitacost.com has a bunch on sale a few days ago, very cheap, and their shipping is cheaper too. They only have a few flavors.

I bought some chocolate dip and blue cheese dressing... they taste fine initially... BUT there is an odd aftertaste that I think is related to the cellulose gel... (stick a piece of clean printer paper in your mouth and chew it... notice that taste??? kinda like that...)

After reading some raves about these products a couple months ago, I placed an order for abou 6-7 things. I don't even remember what I ordered because after trying each one, I ended up throwing them all out.

    Awful, awful stuff!

You are better off with light or reduced fat versions of products that trying to go to calorie free.

I would beware of anything that ends in the word "farm," but was made in a lab. ^^

My mom told me about a diet fad that was popular before I was...old enough to know about it, called "fen-phen." Supposedly only after people were discovering they had heart damage from it, was it removed from the shelves.

That's how the American system typically works. We have to prove that something is safe (but don't have to prove it's not harmful in the long-run). It takes a while for things to typically harm us. ^^ So...products that aren't actually safe end up released...

0 calorie chocolate dip and peanut butter really sets off flags o_O

I've found everything I've tried to be completely gag inducing disgusting. The consistency of everything is "off". It's nasty.
  • I find all of their products to be disgusting. I don't really dig the whole idea of frankenfoods. I'd rather eat the reduced fat (or full fat version) of foods and actually enjoy it than eat fake peanut butter that is really just chemicals.

The overall response hasn't been positive (lol) but this *REALLY* put me over the edge. I can't do weird consistencies.

Thank you for your input :)

Thanks, everyone, for your posts! As suspected, it probably is not for me. Perhaps if I was a little more inclined to experiment and add to other things, but I think I am just too lazy for that haha. Anyway, thanks again. I appreciate all the honest feedback!!
