I feel fat, weak, and like I’m failing my 3yo son by continuing

I’m very out of shape due to my own choices and responses to stress, and the negativity is bleeding into other aspects of my life. I figured it was time for a new approach. So Hi my names Jonathan, and I’m addicted to emotional eating

    Welcome 🤗
I think there are MANY of us here that can relate to what you’re saying - about emotional eating and feeling like we’re letting our weight prevent us from living our “best life” (especially as parents).

You made a great choice to come here as there are many non-judgmental, supportive people on this site.

Tracking is a great way to keep yourself accountable. Keep coming back. You’ve got this 😊

Thank you. I’m working on getting into the habit of tracking, this app makes it pretty easy

You only fail when you stop trying.

I believe you can do it, but I'm just an internet stranger with a meme avatar, what do I know? You have to be the one to choose to do it. Your first post suggests you've already completed step one, which is to recognize that you have choices in what you do and how you treat your body, so it's good that you're already there.

Life has a way of happening, and the dumpster fire that is reality at this moment in time shows no signs of cooling off anytime soon. So, for the conceivable rest of time, you're going to have stress and emotions to deal with, and you have choices about how you do that. One thing you might try is to cultivate a hobby that either requires clean hands or creates dirty ones, so you can't snack while you do it - drawing/painting, a fiber art, gardening, gaming, learn a musical instrument. You might also consider taking up a physical hobby like dancing or boxing, or even just going for a walk when you start feeling a type of way. Journaling is also a zero-calorie way to destress, giving your thoughts and feelings somewhere to live besides in your head. What you write doesn't need to make sense, no one else ever has to see it, you don't even have to keep it to ruminate on later - you could write with pen and paper, or on a site like 750words dot com, or on your personal blog here on MFP (go to My Home > Blog on the desktop site, you can set it to Private if you don't want an audience).
