By then you will have gotten into your grove. Most people usually fall in the pattern of eating the same thing everyday. Also I have assembled a list of "safe" fast food items. I usually go for chick-fil-over anything else. Also try to keep fresh fibrous fruits and veggies around. I visit my sister often and she has fresh strawberries waiting for me.0

I am worried about eating on the drive and at his house too. I am also worried about exercise. Ughhh I haven't ever been away from my husband for a month. I haven't seen my Dad for about a year and a half so I miss him and I'm exited ! I'm just worried about getting out of my routine for a month. Cindy0

Remember, you are in charge!! Before the road trip, pack some safe snacks (protein bars, fruit, tuna packs, lots of water, etc.) and know the calories. If someone else cooks in Ohio, choose what you can eat and supplement from your stash. Offer to cook some meals or grill some healthful meals. If you can cook some meals, great!!0

When you stop for potty breaks ....walk a little bit. Even 5 minutes is good. Stretch before you get back in the car. ...ask to hit the rest stops...walk more. stretch.

If you go to a sit down place for a meal, get you can make anything more healthy if you ask for it the way you want. Or...stick to the lite menu. Split meals with your daughter. Fast food...look up online what they have at each place, what you can have and make a list. Keep it in your purse, so you don't have to think about it while you're there.
As far as being there for a month...go for walks after dinner each night. Or...before...when ever you can fit it in. Maybe a change in routine for a month is a good thing!0 -
First on the exercise-Most hotels have gyms or a pool. Make sure you exercise even if you're tired from riding. Walking is always an option but be careful where you walk. Always think safety.
Second food-I gained a lot of weight on a cross country trip from eating what looked tasty instead of what looked realistic. I ate stuff I would never eat at home like pancakes every morning. Stick to the healthy choices. Research fast food places before hitting the road. Get an idea of the route you will be driving and check online for what looks like your options will be on the road. You know McDonalds will be off every exit. Maybe Wendys and for certain Burger King will be pretty regular. Make a food list for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then stick to it. Nutrition information is almost always avaiable at the counter if you go some place new. Ask for it. Then make wise choices.
Third food at father's house-Cook! If you cook then everyone eats healthy!0 -
When I go away, I take my 10 pound dumbells with me and I still work out every day. Maybe during naptime you could work it in?
As for eating, this will be a great way to experiment with eating "in the real world"...since the goal is to ultimately get back to that.0 -
talk to your family about your food needs. Offer to help with the grocery shopping and food preparation. I went to stay with my mom for a month last summer and it was completely fine. She loved having someone around that wanted to cook for her! :laugh:0

I travel to and from Georgia which is 1000 miles from NY frequently...I suggest getting a cooler and freezing fruit diced up....also bringing hummus and triscuits...or pita bread....pre pack sandwiches and also have plenty of water ...dont stop for fast food or snacks...when your in ohio stock up on chicken and veggies and pre plan your meals its all rather simple you just have to do it.0
