Ok, so I eat fast food b/c it's the only thing I can afford right now. Any1 know any good tips on what kind food to order at the window? I only order off the value menu, never those ginormous combo burgers.

you can still lose weight as long as you maintain a caloric deficit. i'd prob try to hit a min of protein (1g of pro per lb of lbm) and then just eat as much as you can fit into your cals0

If I have to eat fast food I get chicken fresca tacos at Taco bell, chick fil a (everything is pretty safe there but the fries) and chili at Wendys :-)0

What's your goal?
Controlling your calories to lower your weight?
Lowering Fat? Lowering Carbs?
Just generally "eating healthy?"0 -
honestly, the main courses at most restaurants aren't THAT bad, its when you get the big order of fries and a coke with it.
Other than that, I know the 'healthy' options they offer are never the cheapest.
- Go whole wheat if you can
-Chicken is good. Grilled chicken is better. Hold the mayo on a grilled chicken is best.
-Skip the double mcangus cheese n bacon n onion ring n bbq sauce n hell lets just double everything burger. Go for basics
Hope this helps!0 -
There are a lot of fruits and vegetables that are just as cheap as things on the value menu, you should try to find some, use them for breakfast or something. Buy some eggs for a buck and hard boil them. But for the fast food part, maybe get a side salad or a small thing of chicken nuggets?0

I have to agree with this, it's actually most economical to buy your own ingredients and prepare. Supplementing with a small fast food item once in awhile, when on the run is one thing. But produce and basic proteins are just as cheap and make much more that you can portion and bring to work or school and still have a yummy home cooked meal too.0 -
Like the couple above me have said...
Try calculating things up, the cost of ingrediants and how many meals you can actually get out of them. Even ordering off a value menu adds up and will most likely end up being much more expensive. I've stopped eating out because I found it to cost so much more thank making a large batch of something and freezing the leftovers.
For example, tonight for dinner I had:
1 corn on the cob - 20 cents
1 chicken breast wrapped in swiss cheese and ham
a pack of at least 9 purdue boneless skinless chicken breasts is $7 so 1 is 77 cents
I splurged and bought the better ham and swiss from the deli, but they were still on sale. The amount of cheese I used cost about 37 cents and the amount of ham I used cost about 43 cents. I had some seasonings on hand.
All in all, the filling and healthy meal cost $1.77, give or take a few pennies. What small amount of food do you get off a value menu for that?0 -
Wow! That is great!!! ....toot toot, puff puff....:flowerforyou:0

taco bell- three chicken soft tacos....comes out to like 500 cals
Mcdonalds - grilled chicken club, no cheese and light mayo....like 360 cals i believe
If i want fries, i get a small....sometimes medium depending on if i have enough cals, but no soda
subway has good 6 inchers of the day, or get a footlong and shate it with someone...no chips or cookies
carls jr turkey burger....3 flavors of them are under 500 cals and they are BIG....i got the avocado one and it was delish0 -
When I go to:
Wendy's - 1/2 baja salad or the chili
Taco Bell - Fresco Tacos
Chipotle - chicken fajita burrito bowl (easy on the rice)
McDonald's - Grilled chicken chipotle snack wrap or the southwest salad with grilled chicken0 -
