Intake fluctuation effect metabolism?

I am working with a trainer (who I will also ask this question to) but some days I am happy and full at 1700 and some days I'm at 2100 and feel like I'm starving to death. My daily goal right now is 2000. Will a swing of this much, say 400 calories, day to day have a negative impact on my metabolism long term?

Agree. My daily calories vary wildly depending on my activity and hunger levels. I look at my weekly averages, and the fluctuations have absolutely no impact on my weight management.

absolutely not.
we all have days where we are more or less hungry, sometimes they can be attributed to a specific reason (such as working out), sometimes not.
There are actually very few things you can do that will actually affect your metabolism significantly (and even then, i don't know that I could name any off the top of my head at the moment. maybe someone more knowledgeable can). being more or less hungry on any given day, is not one of them.0
