Gaining day after lifting?

Is it normal to gain if you weigh in the day after lifting? I had an OKish food week as family was over and I ate out. But I was still under calories for the whole week. The 'worst' food, the Chinese I ate Friday night so the effects should be out by Wed, Especilly with my water intake high.
But I've had two separate people tell me that you are always heavier the day after lifting. I lifted Tue and weighed in Wed. Is this true?
I'm not too frustrated. It's only 700g and I've lost 11kg in two months which is fantastic. Plus pants that I had to leave unbuttoned on Monday (it was painful to have it done up) are currently done up now and while a tad tight are quite comfy. So while the scale went up I'm clearly smaller!

absolutely true. when you lift, you damage your muscles. thats the point. damage them and they repair themselves bigger adn stronger as a precaution. but while htye are repairing themselves they retain water to help in that process. that's the weight gain you see from lifting. its' water and it will balance out in another day.0
