Reading an interesting article online.

It states among other things:

Muscle Gain and Calcium
Research out of the Canadian McMaster University has found that women who drank two glasses of milk within an hour of lifting weights gained more lean muscle and lost more fat than women who had a post-workout energy drink. Researchers are looking into the connection, but they believe the benefits come from the calcium, protein and vitamin D found in milk. Get this benefit by drinking a large glass of milk immediately after your workout and another 60 minutes later.

1/2% milk is only 100 calories per 8 ounces. How is that a lot? =/

I drink organic milk. I switched to soya milk for a short time but then was shocked to find out how much it raises the risk of cance in women. No, good old-fashioned cows milk for me!

I agree. :) You can buy milk that is produced in cows that receive no growth hormones. The milk doesn't even have to be organic. Just read your labels... there are quite a few brands that are hormone-free.

For more nutrition facts about different types of milk look here:

I don't think it mentions almond milk. Most interesting to me is that skimmed milk has all the nutrients of whole fat milk with with only 0.1% fat.
