Changing my life ;-)

Hello I am new to myfitnesspal. I just turned 40 in February and my daughter just moved away to college. I have decided it is time to focus on me, get in shape, get healthy, and enjoy life again! I have gained over 60 pounds in the last 4 years (NOT HEALTHY). I know the weight wont come off easily; however, I really need to stay focused and do it this time. I want to be alive to see my grandchildren be born one day. I teach 16-24 year olds at Job Corps, which can be very mentally and physically draining; therefore, I rarely feel motivated to exercise. But I am hoping that things will change for me very soon. I would love to meet some friends on here who understand and can offer their support, as I will do the same. WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!!!!! :flowerforyou:

Welcome! Glad you are taking control of your life and changing it. I am with you. My daughters are 15 and 12 and I want to be around when they are older and with families of their own. I have been on MFP for about 3 months and it has gotten easier when I got my smart phone and could track my food on there.

Feel free to friend me. I am looking for more friends to help me on my journey also.
  • Hi My name is Louise I'am 60 years old. I just started on my goal to get healthy. would like to join you in your quest.
  • Welcome, and we are all here to give and get the support needed to shed these dreaded pounds.

I'd love to have you added to my friends.
  • I use to hate exercising, dread it in every way and come with every excuse to avoid it. That was up until a few months ago. I've found my motivation, exercises I enjoy in fact look forward to doing and have started running at the age of 40. I've been exercising about 4-5 days a week most of the summer and feel so much better. Plus I've lost about 30 lbs since March/April. I have a long way to go, but it's a lifestyle change, not a diet.

Feel free to friend request me, the support on MFP is amazing!
  • Hi .... I'm in the same boat.... I will be 40 in February and am tired of being tired all the time... I have no energy and I have some health issues due to the fact I don't eat right or exercise (nothing major just like joint pain and excessive headaches...) But I know through proper diet and exercise I can fix all that.... I know all the right things to do and all the right things to eat but I can never seem to stick to anything... I'll workout for a little while then stop.... I eat pretty well in general (minus the AMP energy drink I'm having for breakfast at the moment...lol)

I would love to help support and lend a hand if you ever need one.....
  • I just love that you have your goals on your post that is awesome and something I think I will do as well

    Have a great day!!!
  • Hey there! It's never too late to get on the health train. Feel free to add me as a friend :)
  • Add me anytime! :) I'd love to be one of your friends. I too dreaded exercising and eating right until I realized how easy it was and how many excuses I was making for myself. I look at calories as money now, they are to be spent wisely and minimally.

    :)
