Fitness instructor gained 31 pounds

It feels so good to finally take back my life!!! It's has been a long and hard road for the last two years when I first began to fall off and since the passing of a dear loved one. It has been extra hard knowing that a fitness instructor has to basically start all over again. I gained 31 pounds in 2 years. I was depressed and couln't get my life back on track. But I'm back and this time with a vengeance. Any other fitness instructors who have been through a similar situation? Please share.

Not a fitness instructor, but I think a lot of us can relate to your cycle of 1.) Stressful life experience that throws us off track 2.) Eating / depression / (chicken or the egg?) 3.) Struggling to regain our footing in the world. 4.) Working on fixing the damage.

Yes, that's how I ended up here. I'm a BodyStep and BodyPump instructor and I definitely fell off the fitness wagon when I got pregnant and stayed there. Man, I even thought I was fit before, but I am in the best shape of my life now!0

Me too! Im a former gym instructor and when I left I got depressed and piled it on. Now I want to work in the industry again so extra incentive!!0

I so agree -- fortunately, at the gym I go to (a community center) almost all of the instructors are moms and regular "joes" who have gained and lost over the years. Makes it so much easier to be there every day.0 -
Fitness instructors are regular people just with the right knowledge. Having knowledge doesn't always mean it will always be used. I have yet to see a fitness instructor that has NEVER had an issue with weight gain at one time or another. HIT IT HARD!!!

No, but after an accident I bloated up like a rooting hog, and I was previously known as a guy in peak condition.
It was humiliating.
But NO MORE!
I'm back - and in 3 months better than ever.
It's a long, hard road but well worth it.0 -
I have hereditary female issues that I made the mistake of letting doctors try to cure with drugs. First it was birth control (even though I'd had my tubes tied), then it was a chemical designed to induce menopause, and when that made me irritable (to say the least) an anti-depressant. I gained a 100 pounds in a year all because of the drugs. Seriously went from 15% body fat to 50% body fat in a year! It was horrible and all due to the drugs! When I finally got fed up and flushed them, I started losing with my regular routine. When I added heavy weight training, I stopped losing on the scale, but I definitely kept losing body fat. I'm back down to 14% body fat but at a higher weight simply because I lift heavy. You can do this! You know how to do it.0
