Inches versus Pounds

I used to think loosing weight was all about the pounds, but I see such a big difference in inches and not such a big difference in pounds. Wish I would have measured "before" so I could know the number difference, but I can tell. Yay!

Anyone see loss of inches before loss of pounds?

If you are losing fat and strength training to gain muscle, you will notice it with your clothing more readily than on the scale. This is why so many people are frustrated by the scale. I never, repeat never weigh myself. Get a tape measure, a full length mirror and some formerly tight clothing. Who cares how much you weigh if you are becoming slim, fit and healthy? The scale and the BMI are faulty indicators of your overall health & fitness.

    I have to agree guys.
A week ago I updated my weight and found I lost my first 10 pounds. The pants were a little looser but I was still using the same hole on my belt.

TODAY, I weighed in and the scale hasn't moved, HOWEVER I did go down a hole on the belt! So YAY and this proves that it's not all about how much you weigh but how your body composition is changing.

Same for me. I wasn't seeing the scale move, but for some reason my jeans were fitting loser around my thighs, just the place that I had noticed I had gained weight. Did measurements this morning just for fun and have lost 0.5 inch on each thigh. WAHOO! Love that tape measure.

:blushing: I am glad I am not the only one thinking about this. My weigh in was today and I didn't lose anything neither did I gain but I feel my legs getting more toned and my arms as well. I need to get to measuring then!

I swear by the tape measure!!! I:tongue: have taken my measurements: bust, waist(at bellybutton), hips (at bones & widest part), thigh & bicep for over a year. When the scale wouldn't move, the tape measure was my motivation. It's amazing to look back at the numbers and realize how much volume I have lost. When I started in October '07 I was: bust-40, waist-37, hips-41-44.5, thigh-26, bicep-12. Now I'm bust-35, waist-28, hips-35-40, thigh-21, bicep-10.5. :noway: Another great motivator is to take a picture each month. Look at my profile to see my progress in a little over a year. I'm such a visual person, I respond best to this motivation. It took a lot of hard work, but is sooooo worth it for feeling 10 years younger and being happy again! :drinker:

ariannedavis - wow! waist 37 to 28!! Way to go!

I am embarrassed to take a before photo, as stupid as that might sound. I feel like I have a ton of "before" photos, unfortunately, since I've been overweight for so long. :grumble: I am going to get that tape measure tonight though. I need some motivation while the scale is at a stand-still.

Yes I love that the inches are gone before the pounds That make it more noticable.

i  the measuring tape!!! I definitely lost inches before any chages started happening on the scale. It was a life saver in the motivation department for sure!!
