    What is Budy Bugg?
  • It's the device they have been using on Biggest Loser. You wear it on your arm, and it measures how many calories you BURN per day. The software utilizes calories burned and calories consumed.

I ordered the GoWear Fit which is like the BodyBugg but I haven't rec'd it yet. Supposed to get it on Thursday. The wait is killin' me!!!! I will definately post after I've used it a few days.
  • that device looks exactly like the body bugg. When I ordered mine, the promotion was to get the free digital reader with it, and it is something I couldn't live without. It give you instant readings of what your Body Bugg is reading.

I like the Body Bugg, don't get me wrong. . .I have learned alot about my body and I BURN way more calories than I ever expected that I would at my age. But I guess i'm just not geared up to set goals and stick with them. . I really don't know what my problem is. I'm 43 and NOT extremely overweight. . . but I've gained 15 pounds since I got the body bugg in January. I log all my food. . just can't seem to get on track.

Their website is really not there for support. . that's why I get so much GREAT information from MFP.

I have read several responses to this type of question before and the consensus is that the people who own it mostly don't use it anymore. Several of them say it's better to just have a good hrm and this site.
  • I used to NOT trust what a computer program would tell you that you should eat in calories. But actually I've learned, based on the Body BUGG, that they are pretty correct when it came to inputting all the correct figures about myself. The fact I have an office job. . .don't exercise much. . .NOT extremely overweight. . .all play a daily factor in my general health. So is being healthy losing weight. NOT necessarily. But the calorie intake for me was like GIANT compared to what I had been eating. 1600 calories. . .and I've always tried to stay around 1,000. So by wearing the Body Bugg I've learned I was starving myself. Thus, my theory in the weight gain. But I know this will level off, giving my body a chance to really handle the additional calories.

I don't expect to use the device more than 3 months. It is supposed to be very accurate so I want to find out / verify what my BMR is and verify what I think I'm burning in my workouts. Once I know where I stand I won't need to wear the device after that. I may need to use it later on again once I've lost significant weight to verify again what I'm burning....but it's a tool like anything else. I'll use it when I need it. I will probably end up getting a HR monitor with a calorie calculator but with the GoWear Fit at least I'll know if the HR monitor w/ Cal. calc is in the ballpark.
