For you allthat are in college. How do you record your colories if eating in a dining hall ? Today I realized that i eat too much at the buffet style dining halls at my school. So i will be taking advantage of my school togo box option. What are some ways you guys track your colories and monitor food consumption ?

Well, since I doubt the school has nutrition info. (Mine never did) you have to be really careful. This may sound funny but use hand measurments. Figure out how much is half a cup or a whole cup by your fist size. I think a 4oz chicken breast is the size of a deck of cards.. also search the mfp database for what you ate. Take into consideration that they probably don't make it from scratch and maybe ask what brands they use? That's a toughy.0

I carried my own food, and when I could not, I would take the easiest thing to count. Like chicken and salad... or potatoes and some meat... simply not mixed up fatty pasta stuff (thats really a no). Or simply salad... its hard, but manageable, good luck!0

I didn't count, and that's the whole reason I gained weight. I started just cutting my portions into halves or thirds since I couldn't correctly measure. Now I just make my own food. The meal plan got old anyway.0

My school has the calorie info posted in the dining hall, but I'm just aware of how much I eat. I do portion control. I generally only eat in the dining hall for breakfast, and since our school doesn't do self serve buffet style, I tell them instead of two or three waffles I only want one. Instead of two sausages give me one. If there's pizza, and I know how many calories about is in pizza, I tend to only have one slice. There are foods that they serve that are the same, like there is always a pasta bar for dinner and I have in mind before I go what I want to eat and how many calories that may be. I try to eat buffet style for only one meal a day, and if I have a big breakfast, that just means lunch and dinner I need to be aware of my calories. You don't have to completely skip on dining halls, just be aware of portions.0
