I have to agree it looks pretty bad on desktop using the latest version of Firefox. Why is everything so huge? I've had to go to 80% just to view it.2
-
I’m finding it much easier to read. Thanks.3
-
I've switched to if it's better in Safari and it is slightly but it won't let me edit. And everything is still huge. Rendering overlays things.0

trying to post but getting "Whoops! There was an error."0

All the discussions in the MFP News & Announcements category are closed. Shouldn't you have announced this change farther ahead of launch? Shouldn't you have done a beta test before making this sweeping change?
Shouldn't you have created a discussion where members can post their feedback now that you've launched these changes?
What I don't like about the new MFP interface (as viewed in Chrome browser on a Windows laptop):
(as of November 10th, 10:30am PST)- timestamp - A comment made on the current day is tagged with the time of the post (implying today's date). Comments posted on previous days of the current year omit the time. Comments posted in previous years omit the day of the month as well as the time. What's wrong with always showing the full date/time? This is useful information!
- layout - the member profile picture, name, # of posts are no longer in a separate box to the left of the comment text. This is visually more confusing. A separate box is better. However, it would be also better if the (full) timestamp of the comment were put in the box with member name, picture, etc., rather than at the bottom of the comment text.
- if you no longer want the separate box to the left, then put member name, membership level, # of posts, timestamp all on the same line, with timestamp to the far right. Make this line clearly distinct from the body of the comment below it.
- profile picture is now one quarter the size that it was. It's too small.
- eliminate useless/redundant information:
- If a member has a premium subscription, why not just say "Premium" instead of "Member, Premium"? Isn't "Member" implied by subscription level?
- But why is it necessary to show subscription level at all?
- you now see "Member" or "Member, Premium" below member name, but you also see "Member" below the date. Both of these seem unnecessary.

Frankly, it's awful. Not only is the layout worse than before, but I can't search to find my must recent posts (things I don't care enough about to bookmark, but want to be able to get to).4
-
Please restore the original format. I have been on this site since 2013 and find it totally not user friendly.5
-
Also - the ONE request I've seen multiple times... people asking that the Disagree and Hug options below a post be switched... wasn't touched. I don't really care, but the thought was an accidental Hug is nicer to see than an accidental Disagree (which you can do unintentionally when scrolling through posts on your phone). This specific request wasn't addressed but things no one asked for were? And it's even harder to deal with on my phone than it is on the computer. If I had been considering Premium, you just guaranteed I stay with the free option.3

Actually the disagree should just be removed. It's a negative thing on a site that is supposed to be about making positive changes.
Why is there so much white space ... now I have to scroll through twice as much. I do one line return and it shows up as two. Also the posts in groups keep getting errors.
I took a look at the app (which I don't use except when on vacation) and see the rendering isn't such a problem there. Is it the same code for web and app?
You seem to have fixed the edit problem.

My first impression was that I miss the visual separation. The grey background framed the text so the eye didn't wander outside, the timestamps and user names had a different color, and the thumbnail was bigger and was placed right next to where a post started. Posts didn't bleed together in monochrome and identifying the poster from the picture was easy.
What I miss the most about the functionality is the ability to identify bulk new posts in a bookmarked thread at a glance from any page on the forums by clicking the star. I used to rely on that feature a lot to quickly go back only to the thread that has replies. I never liked nor used the notification button because it does not consolidate replies by thread.
I like the save draft feature and the easy access to quick links and categories. I also like that the text is clearer and easier to read now, this font is pleasing to the eye. The design is still new, so it takes getting used to like anything new. I won't go as far as requesting a rollback. It's normal to be taken aback at first, so I'll give it time and see how I feel about it later. Actually, if I find an easy way to manage new replies to bookmarked threads that takes me to the first unread post, I think I'll get used to the visual aspects of it pretty fast.
Edit: looks like we can't edit quotes anymore because BBCode is gone. I liked snipping a long quote or bold the part I'm replying to.

Hate this new layout/format.3

Looks like "navigation" to the Home page and the FOOD diary is gone? I'm assuming you already know that, but it's a pretty big deal.
W10, Firefox4 -
The bookmarks list is a bit bulky now, particularly on my phone. I used to see about a dozen or more items when I looked at the list and so could scroll though quickly. Now only about three fit on the screen, and it seems cluttered.1
-
This is going to take some time getting used to. I knew my way around before but now can't find anything I want. Doesn't feel like home anymore. :(

The food diary is still there. Click on the enormous blue myfitnesspal at the top menu bar and it will take you to the non community feature.

Using spoilers around media links doesn't seem to work anymore. If there's a way to do it it is not anything like the old way.
Used to be like this:
[spoiler]Text or link to toggle by the spoiler button.[/spoiler].
But it doesn't work now. The paragraph formatting interface works to make spoilers for text, but doesn't seem to support the media links when inserted using the 'Insert Media' button.

Hello, I just wanted to chime in real quick to acknowledge that we know a lot of things have changed and it will take some getting used to.
Two of the big reasons we made this switch was to get better support from our forum providers and so we could have the freedom to make subtle changes in the future as we continue to iterate the forums. We had previously been locked into a very outdated custom theme that would occasionally break when our forum providers made behind the scenes updates, and it was no longer sustainable for the health of our forums.
While we will not be going back to the old theme there are some items that we can tackle once all of the dust settles (NOTE: Our forum provider is still working on some bugs we noticed during the change over).
One thing previously mentioned is that if a user had multiple roles (For example I'm technically a member and a staff member) it was showing both and was redundant. We were able to switch that back to only show the highest role level for a user.
Also previously mentioned is this thread is the position of the Disagree button. While it is still at the end of the list currently (we are open to changing that), on mobile it should no longer be in the way of thumb scrolling as it now falls on to a second line away from normal scroll position.
We'll continue to monitor specific feedback and make changes where we feel it will improve the experience.
Thank you for your patience while we work out all of the kinks and bugs involved in such a big move.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have the team take a look at this and file a bug ticket with our forum provider.

My first impression was that I miss the visual separation. The grey background framed the text so the eye didn't wander outside...
Would having a border around the Discussion Lists help with this some? Currently we do not have an option to have the main background be different than the discussions/posts, but we can put a border around them if that helps
Example:

Forum provider means more to mfp than members!?

Thanks @Betty for the update. I worked in SW development for over 30 years, and know the headaches of trying to update software that used technology that the vendor no longer supports, and then dealing with user complaints about how it doesn't work like the old releases!
Not that I'm going to refrain from griping about things that seem problematic for users. 💢
Now that I'm old and retired, I feel totally empowered to act like an end-user! 🤣
On the plus side, I do like the plethora of emojis that are now easily accessible. 👍️

Apologies, to further explain, our forums are hosted by a company that specializes in forums. MyFitnessPal developers don't actually work on the forums, our forum provider does. They maintain the health of our forums and provide us with updates and new features that we are then able to use in our forums. We made the switch to a forum provider back in 2014.

It looks good to me. It keeps my eyes focused, and it even makes different posts more distinct. That's my own preference, though. You may want to add a poll for it.

What happened to the search function? If I wanted to check back in on something I'd posted (or sometime else) I could search by my name and see everything I'd posted. That appears to be gone. It is really hard to navigate the site now - especially on my phone. Good news - I think I just fed up a lot of time I'd been spending on mfp.

Thanks for the feedback @amusedmonkey. We'll definitely mull over some of the feedback in this thread and come up with some surveys or polls for some future changes.

Yes, I've often used the search function within a discussion. If it isn't made available in the new interface I'll certainly miss it.
I did try the top-level search function. It has some good filter features, but it doesn't seem to provide a way to easily limit my search to posts in a particular discussion, and it's not as conveniently accessible for a quick check when I don't want to navigate outside the current discussion.

I don't know if this is by design or a bug, but when I quoted your post earlier it replaced the image with a non-clickable link.
1 -
I dont like the avatar pics being so much smaller- harder to see who wrote a post.
Also seems no way of seeing threads I marked with yellow star before - I can see all notifications but each marked thread.
at least we have way more smileys - that's one good thing 🤪🤩😎
4 -
The yellow stars were for bookmarked threads/discussions @paperpudding. I was not seeing those at first, but then found that these are still there (on the far right-hand side of the discussions list) but now look like a bookmark instead of a star. It appears as a black outline for threads you have not bookmarked, and is solid blue for those you have bookmarked, like so:

Agree. And please, for the love of my eyes, develop a dark mode. This white is blinding.
