OMG! who would have known?

i have worn my bodybugg for 4 days now and was so suprised at what i learned! i burned anywhere from 2,575-3,000 calories a day so far! but MFP has me set to eat 1,740 calories plus exercise calories and i can never hit that number. i consume between 1,250-1,500 NET calories a day. (about 1,600-2,000 actual calories). if i am full should i still be eating more since i burn so much? is this why i am not losing?

The bodybugg program does not add in excersise calories to eat. It sets burn goal and calorie intake amount and thats it.0

it could very well be why you aren't losing. if your body burns more than the website assumes, then yes, all calculations could be off. keep wearing your bodybugg and after a week take the average of your daily burn and then do a custom setup of your numbers. if you find it hard to eat so much, try eating stuff that has higher calories. things like nuts, avocados, whole milk, etc. lower cal foods is not always the best choice, specially if you end up being too low in overall calories for the day. but you don't want to have to eat a lot more food...you end up being stuffed all day, and that's not good either.
if i could afford it, i would get myself a bodybugg or something similar, cause i am sure the calculations MFP has set for me are off ever since i started working. my job is pretty physical, and yet it changes almost everyday. and i was steadily losing before that, and now it is sooo hard. an actual monitor to tell me what i really burn each day would be awesome.0 -

i understand that but if i want to lose 1/2lb a week, if i am burning 2,800 calories then i should be consuming 2,550 calories and i am No where near that. i usually eat about 1,600-2,000 which is leaving me at a huge deficit most days. i just dont want to start eating garbage again (fries, burgers, pasta, ect). now that i am eating healthy i can eat more with less calories but i dont know if this big of a deficit is causing my plateau?0 -
What I have learned is that I burn much LESS doing zumba and walking etc than I would have thought if I took the amounts listed on web sites. At least this way I know exactly what I personally burn so its worked well for me.0

It is very possible that's why you aren't losing. Try upping your calories for a couple weeks and see what happens. Add in healthy foods (or go back to foods that you normally eat lighter versions of it for the full versions) - like nuts. I don't have a bodybugg or anything but I KNOW I burn a huge amount of calories in a day. It's why I can weigh what I do and still consume 2200-2500 NET calories a day and maintain that weight. Increase your intake and see what happens. MFP is just a guideline - a starting point. It won't work for every single person.0

you know I actually had huge deficits when I was losing well so I never really worried about that I had 1500 to 2000 some days and lost really well. I know they say you shouldnt have more than 1000 a day deficits . When I started listening to people who said eat more have smaller deficits I stopped losing and gained a few pounds back so I really didnt have any luck with eating more in my case. You can try eating more for a week and see what happens ?0

i have increased my calories quite a bit with no results. i was netting around 1,000-1,200. now i net around 1,250-1,600. but still not close to what i am buring. maybe i should up it more? im just scared to eat more.lol eating more to lose is a strange concept to get used to. also i sometimes worry that if i eat to much during the day i wont have enough calories for dinner and after dinner snack, but then i always end up with extra!0 -

I just got an offer for a $129 GW (same as boddybugg) with bluetooth. My current GW is an older version that needs to be plugged into the computer via a USB to download the info. I'm so excited thinking I can just check my iphone for latest calorie burning info. My GW also measures sleep time and efficiency which is very valuable information, IMO. I love my GW and have relied on it heavily to lose my latest 24 pounds.
I also burn 2800-3200 cal/day and eat about 1300 PLUS most of my exercise calories. I'm losing a steady 2-3 pounds a week. So, I have a daily deficit of about 1500 cal. and sure enough, I lose about 1 pound every 2-3 days. So, I'd say at least eat your exercise calories.0 -
I lost my weight eating 1100 a day . But If I knew I was going to go over or was really hungry I would excersise more and just made sure I always had a
1000 a day deficit. The bodybugg also showed me how I burned less and less doing the same activitys as I lost weight . The smaller you get the less calories you burn so at least with the bodybugg you see that and can make adjustments.0 -
Rigth now with 3 hours left to burn Im at 2698 burned and I ate 1300 so I already have about a 1300 defecit. I dont normally have such a big one but I did and hour of walking plus a zumba and a cardio kickboxing class today .0

nothing compared to what you do kristin ! Let me tell you that kickboxing class was work ! Lots of sweat !0

Well, I know that I burn a tremendous amount of calories in a day and I would be starving if I were consuming less than 2000 calories a day. Actually, I know what happens when I consume less than that - I start to slowly gain weight. It isn't an overnight thing nor does it happen if I'm under for a day or two. But, if I am consistently under? I see a slow gain on the scale. Burning 3000 calories a day and only consuming 1500? That's a big deficit. Slowly move the calories up and see what happens.0
