A 500 calorie per day deficit equates to 3500 calories per week deficit which on average over time results in about a 1 Lb per week rate of loss. However, this isn't a linear process...your expectations are completely unrealistic. You aren't going to lose exactly 1 Lb per week...body weight isn't a static figure and there will be weeks with smaller losses, no losses, bigger losses, and gains. Weight loss is an overall trend over time...it looks like this on a graph.
The blue is the up and down fluctuations that happen during weight loss...the red is the overall trend over time...like way more time than a mere two weeks before Christmas.

I guess I'm confused...you're only trying to lose 1 Lb? Normal weight fluctuations can be anywhere from 1-5 Lbs or more...I don't think 1 Lb is remotely worth fussing about and isn't going to make any difference in how you look.1

That would be a 3,500 calorie deficit in one day to equal the calories in one pound of fat.
For example if you need 2,000 calories a day to maintain your current weight you would have to eat NOTHING and exercise away another 1,500 calories. Hope you can see that's not going to happen?
500 calorie deficit a day for SEVEN days = 3,500 to (on average, over an extended period of time) lose 1lb a week.2 -
Nadine, honey. On Oct 24th you stated you weighed 198.8.
You’re down to 180.
You’re making wonderful progress. Instead of spending so much energy obsessing over every calorie and ever pound, pour some of that amazing, powerful energy into creating new, stable habits.
If I were the cells in your body, I’d be freaking out with the whiplash short attempts at trying this and that.
Take a deep breath. You’ll get there. I swear you will, if you take a steady, reasonable approach, choose your foods wisely, enjoy the ones you do choose, and weigh them and log them. And add in a bit of exercise, even if it’s just taking your kiddos to the park and playing with them or pushing the pram around.
Do you have a plan in place to keep it off once you lose it, or is this your forever mode?
If I can plod and lose weight, I promise you, you can, too. Man, I wish you lived next door so I could hold your hand (in a caring female non-internet non creepy kind of way) and just get you to breath.
You seem so stressed. Stress increases cortisol which can lead to weight gain or retention. Let it go, honey!!!! Look up some prana, breathing or mediation online or via apps, and try one.8 -

1st time I've started was 230.
Today iam 194
I just wanna be 180
Or
170,160
Then my goal is to maintain
With those numbers, you are already doing better than 95% of the people here, and 100% of the ones who try for a week and quit.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Give yourself a little pat on the back and say,”Well done so far, Nadine!”5 -

You should be aiming for 1-2lbs per WEEK, not per day. You're not going to get from 194 to 180 by Christmas.3 -
It took all of us a while to realize that, I think. I know my expectations were nuts, in retrospect.
The main thing is, she’s hung in for a couple of months when many with those same expectations would have thrown up their hands and said ,” Fate wants me to remain overweight. I can’t lose weight. Poor poor pitiful me”, and they just …..quit.
All props to Nadine for sticking with it.2 -
You can not lose 2 pounds, or even 1 pound in 1 day.
That is INSANE.
And will wind you up in the HOSPITAL.
And with an EATING DISORDER.
If you are currently 194, you should be targeting about 1.5 pounds PER WEEK.
no more than 10% of your body weight per week loss.3
