Hey, I'm Jessi. My weight loss journey has been difficult, to say the least. I seem to be stuck on a weird cycle where I lose between 5 to 10 pounds and then nothing. I get frustrated and then stop trying. I'd love some friends to share progress with. I deleted my FB account last year so I have like no friends on here now.
Recently, however, I have walked away from a toxic marriage and made healing a top priority for me. As it turns out, dropping the stress of living with someone when you make each other miserable does wonders for a person's mental health. Who knew, right? Years of therapy and months of medication for ADHD and depression later, I'm going to try once again. I have a secret weapon this time, though: my kids and I recently adopted a dog. We have cats, too, but if I don't get out of bed for a few days, they really couldn't care less as long as their food bowl isn't empty. This dog, however, needs care regardless of how I feel. She is a higher than average energy dog, too, so daily walks are a must for her. She is awesome and I enjoy taking care of her.
A bit more about me:
I'm almost 37 and I have 3 kids with my ex husband. My diet is almost plant based and I've been working on getting there fully. It's not because of a moral stand or anything noble like that; I genuinely don't enjoy meat much like any other food preference. I don't care what anyone else eats. My roommate eats meat. My kids eat meat. My pets eat meat. I really do not care what others eat as long as they are making the best choices for them.
In my spare time (lol what even is that?) I mostly play video games. I recently made the switch from World of Warcraft (where I met my roommate 6 years ago) after 15 years to Final Fantasy 14. My music tastes are probably the most narrow aspect of me. I listen almost exclusively to metal. There are a smattering of songs from other genres I do enjoy and will give anything a chance. I'm just really picky about what I enjoy. I also play guitar a bit, but I don't practice consistently so I'm still not good at it. I've been an atheist most of my life but, like the dietary choices, I don't care what someone else believes in and will never tell you what you believe is wrong or stupid. I actually really enjoy learning about other worldviews and religions. I'm currently in school to be a middle school science teacher so that should be...interesting.
I just wanted to give an overview in the hopes of finding some friends on here. I wish you all the best in your journey wherever you may be on it.
