What weight does your body WANT to be?

I am currently sort of maintaining at 128lbs (I say sort of as I would feel happier at 125, but am training for a race and want enough fuel), but even at maintenance am hungry pretty much all the time. I remember this last time I was a weight I was happy with too, when I was 16-23. It seems that to be the weight I feel look best and am healthiest, I have to basically starve myself. I don't eat junk food, I am vegetarian and eat a fairly clean diet, but when I eat enough calories to make me feel not hungry, I put on weight (which was how I got to 150+ lbs).

I think my body wants to be a UK size 12, and around 150 lbs, but I mentally want it to be a size 8-10 and 130 ish.

So does your body have different ideas to your head about what size it wants to be?

  • I think since I had kids my body wants to be around 140 lbs.

    That's cool since I've been underwent my whole life.
    I'm tall (5' 11")and have always struggled with trying to gain weight. Guys don't like stick figured women!

    I would like to be 135 lbs. but not sure how hard it will be to achieve/maintain that weight.

    I have been on MFP for over 55 days and go to the gym weekly. I work out hard to achieve that goal and my hubby says the weight I'm at is perfect (I'm not convinced)so I continue to kick my own butt everyday but am unable to get to 135. Is 140lbs. a manageable weight...probably. but I guess trying to achieve the impossible is keeping things manageable at 140ish and that I can live with.

    I like this topic, because it's something I think about often. My eating/exercising habits have always been pretty good, but no matter what, my body never wants to leave the 138-145 range! I've never been an over-eater or unhealthy eater...my hunger goes away quickly, but the weight never does.
  • i never been that small , i am 5'7 and the last time i weigh myself at 140 was probably when i was 10 yearsold. right now i am trying to get to 140 since most girls my age and height are at that weight, HOWEVER , i don't know if i can . mentally i know that i can , but i am not sure how i would look or feel, it is kinda of negative and positive at the same time
