arm wrestle!

I was trying to think of some strength objectives for myself... and I decided I want to be able to beat my boyfriend at arm wrestling.

then my little brother tells me it's more to do with leverage than strength............ thoughts? Is this true? Could I get strong enough for the leverage not to matter?

silly goal but it would make me feel pretty cool anyway :P

Arm wrestling is mostly about leverage.

If two arms that are different lengths apply the same force [or have equal strength], then the torque on the longer arm will be larger, giving the shorter arm the advantage; however, if the muscles are equally developed, the longer arm has longer muscles which should be able to apply more force.

I like young people who arm wrestle and can discuss physics.

My GF told me she has the same goal. She made huge strength gains. On the otherhand I have not worked out so much and bulked down for health reasons. Three years ago we did for fun. It was an easy win for me. Now she is much stronger then before and I have lost strength. Still comparing biceps mine is much bigger. We had another match resently. I can tell you she is now difficult to beat. I won but holly it took 95% of what I had. We had 4 matches. The last matches were the most difficult to win. If we had 10 matches she would have likely won a match. If she knew leverage technique and used it (and i did not) she would have took me down everytime. Id would have to use leverage to match. Yes, people say leverage matters a lot in armwrestling. What shocked me was how strong her arm was as mine is much bigger. I better be prepared for the next time lol.
