Great info! My abs didn't start to really show until I started doing my ab workouts with weights.0

Yum. I just came here to stare and drool...oh and get pointers! Thanks. LOL0

@aj_rock
The bottom 2 came in around 11% body fat as measured by an expensive scale (that is most likely not very accurate). Competitive Body Builders guessed my body fat to be around 8% just looking at me, but again not very accurate, so I don't really know for sure.
@ninerbuff
I agree that you don't need weights, but those V-ups and inverted situps I bet offer as much if not more resistance than a 10 lb. plate behind the head. Whatever rips and tears the muscle will work!
I actually love inverted situps, they make me feel like Rocky, but I don't always have a gym with the equipment to do that one. Although the back of a door works great if you have a spotter.
I try to follow the 3 sets 10 reps rule for the most part. I increase weights until I hit failure on the third set between 6-10 reps. That's the goal anyways, I don't always reach failure or even complete 3 sets, but I shoot for that.0 -
Have you try low sodium V8? It comes in small or large cans and also in a bottle. It is what I have in the morning instead of OJ.0

are you saying you instantly put on fat if you eat "junk food, even if at a deficit? sounds like it's more some water retention from the carbs and sodium of said junk food that will subside in a day or two
it really all comes down to diet and personal preferences
I agree about the junk food and bloat effect. I find that when I eat something heavily rich in creams and saturated fats that I do feel bloated and gassy for a couple of days. I have seen the scale jump up 4 lbs just from water and the solid food I just ate, but then see all of it flushed away 2 days later. So I got to agree about it subsiding. However, if you aren't allowing your body time to rid that waste, and keep adding to it with more and more crap foods, then it will not be so easy to digest and subside.
I tend to steer clear in general just to keep it clean and moving in the right direction. I figure that any counterproductive foods will only add more TIME to my life... Time in the Gym that is0 -
Great post, my experience is the same, I adhere by your recommendations, I only don't supplement, I eat all my protein. I'm a woman - almost 40 with a pack. Low body fat and proper nutrition are of utmost importance. Keep it up!0

So i had started to see progress in my abs..I could make out the 4 pack but still have fat over the lower abdomen. SO, I got excited and started working my abs really hard everday for 3-4 days in a row. I did the sit ups with weights on my stomach, hanging leg lifts, plank etc. NOW it feels like I was hit just under my ribs at the "4 Pack" area with a baseball bat! It's swollen and feels like a bruise. . . I'm sure it's my fault but have you eer had that happen? Also, how long did it take you to get to wear you are now?0

abs are muscles so they should be trained like any other muscle and be given proper time to recover, training them everyday is prob not the best idea. every other day at most0 -
Very interesting indeed.0

I lost 60 lbs. in just about 75 days... However, I was working out up to 3 hours a day and eating back my calories using expensive GNC body building drinks in addition to eating clean and often, etc...
When I got to my lowest point on the scale was also my most ripped look. About 168 lbs. @ 6' 1" tall. In the current picture I am @178 pounds... So it's really getting your body fat lower that will ultimately pull out the bottom 2.
I should warn that when you do get super low in body fat you also lose some brain power. I have seen body builders drop 20-40 IQ points simply because they stopped eating fat and drinking water. Yes water!!! Your organs need fat as a form of protection from your other organs, bones, muscle, tendons, etc... Your brain needs a good bit of that fat as well.0 -
Amazing post AND amazing results ! Thanks for sharing!0

This is really good information. I appreciate the time you put into it. It is inspiring and great information. The thought of getting down that much protein is intimidating. However, I do need to work on increasing it and making a goal.0

I also have the "4 pack" but small amount of fat covering my lower abs. I figure it'll go with decreasing body fat and/or it's from being a woman/mother and will sadly never go.0 -

Great post, I wish I had the discipline to stick to a clean eating diet. I'd say it's clean 90% of the time but I do have a sweet tooth and I can't get along without bread!0
