New to discussion, but my journal started a year ago,

I am a 56 year old woman and have been severely overweight most of my life. I am not looking for a certain weight or size but a way to live an active healthly life...one day at a time. December 20, 2021 I weighed 343.6 lbs, today I weigh 250.2 lbs. I am a chef, so being around great food all the day is a daily challenge. Most of the weight loss came off by end of July. I took 3 months off of journaling my calories & exercise as I was on a 3 month vacation with my husband in Italy. We walked every day and I was surprised to find that I weighed the same weight as when I left! By December 2nd, I was back to planned meals and exercising and it feels good. I don't know the magic number as a goal, but I will continue until I find what feels good. I know my story isn't unusual. I feel your pain, your struggle and frustration and just want to stay...good job for just being on here and I'd like to join the team.

Going to Italy sounds wonderful. I would like to go someday. I am not a chef, but I have started making more things homemade to help with my healthy eating goals. I recently started making homemade butter and flavored butter. It's a start towards less processed food with no preservatives. When you make it also makes buttermilk. Homemade buttermilk should help other dishes be healthy and taste better. The brown sugar and honey butter is so delicious. I am looking forward to making a flavored butter with raspberries. I have no plans to become a chef, but kudos to you for achieving that career. I am sure it is rewarding.

Thanks Julie for reaching out. Good for you for trying new things. Being a chef isn't as important as learning about food and enjoying the rewards of what you have made. I am always looking for new recipes for sauces to put on meats or veggies, right now I love using peanut butter, ginger or mango's. Feel free to reach out anytime for any reason. It's nice to share the journey.
