A small success but I'm happy

This is just a pure indulgence, just to make it hit home that, yes last night WAS a success. It revolves around my little brother (not so little any more, at least 6 inches taller than me now) who has always had a metabolism faster that makes lightspeed look lethargic and has recently been hitting the gym so it now athletic too. He just doesn't get the meaning of 'diet'. The fact that someone might think that they need to LOSE weight just doesn't even cross his mind. Anyway my parents were away and in true student style, he decides this is a prime excuse to order a takeaway. 'No!' I cry. 'No, no noooooo!'. I have already planned a healthy, balanced meal for myself that will keep me within calorie goal. He is NOT going to ruin my day. So what happens, I give in. But then I scan the menu, away from battered lemon chicken (mmmm), dry fried shredded beef (drooooool) and singapore fried noodles (stomach rumble). And there is just plain beef and vegetables. So I order that. Yes, I was close to giving into the others when they arrived (yes the little git ate a whole portion of battered lemon chicken, a whole portion of dry fried shredded beef AND a whole portion of singapore fried noodles without blinking an eye), but I didn't. I ate my beef and vegetables. It was yummy. Probably had a bit too much salt in as I feel quite thirsty this morning but I think quite an overall healthy choice. This is not where the story ends, for he then brings out a bottle of red wine - my favourite. I say, 'No, I'll stick with my water, thanks.' He spends a good half hour persuading me otherwise. Oh, I'm sure you've encountered them: 'You've been healthy all day, just have a small glass', 'Jeeeeez, it's just ONE glass', 'Oh come, enjoy yourself on a friday night'. So that's my story, nothing major and quite frankly quite boring and I congratulate you for reading this far. As I say, posting to just make me realise that, yes, on a friday night after being very good all week, staying under calorie goal, I think I done good under significant pressure. Already feeling better about myself
Gotta celebrate the small victories!

That's a great success, well done! It's really hard when there's such temptation and everyone around you is indulging!
My husband has just had toast with butter and jam... I'm feeling quite hungry after dinner but NO! I'll have a decaf coffee and pretend that's food... cos I really don't need the calories!0 -
I completely sympathise with your dilemma!!! Last night was of course friday night which for me and my bf usually signifies some sort of indulgent wasting of calories... lol any form of takeaway or calorie laden restaurant excursion. Ive somehow got him into counting the calories and well er, we both had no idea what to have for our evening meal! We ended up in waitrose buying some chicken with cesar melt thing with chunky chips which each portion came to around 450 cals. Not bad!!
But the temptation is always there and I miss pizza BADLY! But you resisted so WELL DONE!!!! x0 -
