Mortons Baked Potato

I was looking at the Mortons steakhouse and noticed that their "fully loaded baked potato" has 1430 calories. Whoa. Just, whoa. If the potato is 1lb, then that's 350 calories. They somehow found a way to use 1100 calories worth of toppings? If I asked for no toppings, could I just log 350 calories? Thanks.

Fully loaded is typically going to include plenty of butter, cheese, sour cream, and bacon. Without toppings you could just log the potato...but a 1 Lb Russet is more like 425 calories give or take.

Wow is right. That's almost a whole day's worth of calories. :( And potatoes are pretty high calorie for me to indulge in, don't like them that much. :/ One plain potato is a whole big meal for me, calorie wise.

I really like the taste of a well done russet baked potato. I cut it in half lengthwise for a 6 oz serving add a pat of butter, salt and pepper. the leftover half goes in the microwave to re-heat on high again with a pat of butter salt and pepper. Always comes in around 160 calories. My second favorite carb.

Everyone knows that any food consumed at Morton's doesn't count. ;)
Were I logging a plain Morton's potato, I'd assess it at around 500 calories. The restaurant uses copious amounts of butter - even with steaks and 'light' fare. So any real world estimates could be dubious at best. Honestly, unless you are lucky enough to dine at Morton's often, I wouldn't over-think it and enjoy.

The sides at Mortons are really not designed to be only 1 serving. And yes, even a half is a lot but at least worth the calories in my book.

A lot of steakhouses rub the skin with oil and salt to note. So if you eat the skin you should probably throw in some extra calories for that.

I don't know the product or venue being an Australian but just adding cheese and sour cream adds astronomical amounts of calories. Chuck on some other stuff and it's dead easy to crack 1000 cals just on a potato.
