Achieving a healthy weight when in chronic pain

Hi all! Have commenced today and am really looking forward to get in touch with people over 50 who are looking to obtain their healthy weight like me. I have just over 30kgs to lose in order to get to mine. I am particularly interested in chatting with people who are attempting this journey whilst in chronic long-term pain such as myself. This makes our journey complex as we need to battle our health issues at the same time. What strategies have worked for you?

  • I researched some stretches for the area of my pain and then purchased $70 athletic shoes geared towards runners which are also orthopedic. I can walk more than across the house without pain now. Started treadmill at lowest setting and no incline for ten minutes and then a few more minutes each day. It is helping! Journaling all meals. Bought food scale.
    The app is great!

I'm not over 50, but I have a serious genetic disease that leaves me in severe chronic pain. I haven't been able to walk properly for years and am now on crutches full time, and that's not even the worst of my pain. I have to spend a lot of time in bed. It's pretty brutal.

Still, I've always been able to lose weight because I can do that with just diet alone.

What kind of strategies are you looking for?
