I've been doing a 1200 cal diet since jan, & working out about 30min- to a hour on the teeadmill, almost everyday untill July. In july, i stayed on the 1200 cal diet, but stopped exercising. The weight came off almost 3 pounds a week with no exercise! I was amazed. Then it slowed off to 2 pounds, and now, I seem to be hoovering around the same weight 157-159 for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I still have not been exercising really. Why am i not losing? have i hit a plateau? do i need to go back to hardcore exercising? im scared because when i was workingout so hard, i lost MORE weight when i STOPPED exercising! Any help is appreciated. i still have 15-23 more pounds to go.

  • Sounds like when you were exercising you may not have been eating back the calories you burned. You may have boosted your metabolism with the workouts and now it has slowed down again...

1200 calories is too low for most people--unless you are very short. So, you may want to up your calories by about 200 a day and try that for a few weeks (not 1 week, you have to give it a while to see accurate results) and see if that helps you. (Unless you are very short, of course).

Oh, and make sure you are eating your exercise calories! :)

I suggest weight training. It actually helps to burn fat better than cardio does, and sometimes your body just needs to be confused. Check out my blog for the weight training program and food list that my personal trainer has me following.

Ah, ok...maybe try 1300 then? Just for a bit to see if you can jolt your metabolism.

I would just add that you should eat every 3-4 hours; waiting too long to eat can also slow metabolism.
