Why did you do it???

There must have been a point when you thought I must do this??

Was it cos of how you felt? A comment someone made to you or you overheard about you? Your favourite clothes didn`t fit anymore? Stepping on the scales with disbelief??

What was your turning point to start a new life and start your new journey to a better lighter you?

When I was lighter I used to look at people that were overweight and think `I will never let myself get overweight` then I became that overweight person...it was so easy, I didn`t even have to think about it.

Now I look at people in a similar to position to myself, when I am out on my long walks and I wish I could go over to them and say...`hey, I know this great website where you will get motivated and help you lose some weight`

But its not the sort of thing you go over and say to a stranger :blushing:

Why did you do it?

I knew I needed to for a long time but the turning point was my divorce. When we decided the marriage was over I realized I needed to take care of myself in order to take better care of my kids.

    That is a great answer!
  • I work in the ED, I am a registered nurse. I wear Dansko's. I've worn Dansko's 10 years. I couldn't put my shoes on because my feet were so swollen. My blood pressure 210/120, roughly. 36 years old, fat, gross, I hated myself. If I kept this up, I would be dead soon. That's why I did this.:flowerforyou:

    WHat she said.
all my jeans were too tight. When summer started none of my summer pants fit either. I bought one pair of "big pants" on sale to get me through the summer, joined the gym again and found MFP. Ten pounds down, and my old clothes fit -- now I'm trying to get into my OLDER clothes...lol
  • After a summer of not having to wear my scrub pants at work I went to put on my black pair with just a draw string (the only pair without an elastic waist band and draw string) and went to bend over to put my gym shoes on and I felt like my butt was going to rip the pants. Also trying on my blue jeans from the winter before (size 14) and them causing me to muffin top and it left terrible marks on my stomach, I couldn't bare to think that I was going to have to spend another $50 on 3 pairs of jeans and have to buy them in a size 16!

Oh and I found a awful picture of myself from my birthday, that was the final straw I knew I needed to drop some weight.

Yep...it was the clothes for me but the photos wow...they make you realise just how big you are in other poeples eyes.

I am not going to have another photo taken until I get to my 150lb goal..and I know I will still be overweight, but at least just under my recommended bmi at 5` 4"
