Really having bad time

So I stared at the gym because I wanted to lose weight and tone up as I was in happy. Got myself a PT to work with for a couple of months. I am now bigger and heavier than I have ever been in my life. No clothes fit me properly and I’ve gone from unhappy to proper miserable.
My calories are almost double what I usually have.
Any help/advise please.

Reduce calories to the point of being in a reasonable calorie deficit so you can lose weight.0

Cut calories and maybe just switch over to cardio. Were you lifting and are unhappy with the muscle development?0

Your PT is not just telling you how to work out, but also how much to eat? If you're gaining weight, I would just reduce calories (and perhaps look for a new PT, or just keep them for the workouts, or at least explain to them that things are not going as you expected).
How much weight did you gain in how much time? I would use that as an indicator of how much you should reduce your food intake. If you were gaining 1 lb per week, you would need to reduce your daily intake with 500 calories per day to reach maintenance, and reduce by acolyte 500 to lose 1lb a week.
Not knowing how much you weigh and what your goal is, 1lb per week may or may not be appropriate. If you want to build muscle to improve your body composition, your deficit definitely shouldn't be too aggressive and eating sufficient protein is important.2 -
eating more will not make you lose weight in any world. That's simply not how weight loss works.
Please come back and give us some more details. Age, height, weight, goal weight. We are more than happy to help.
Many personal trainers, though they MEAN well, are not qualified in any way to give dietary advice, and use blanket advice that might work for some, or maybe even most, but may not work for you. Not that we are specialists, but I would wager us old timers know a fair bit more about losing weight and keeping it off.0 -
