I got a Polar FT7 from www.heartratewatchcompany.com and I absolutely love it. The readings are consistant and I love all of the features of the watch! I got the guys version because I liked the colors better and the watch face looks fine on my wrist. I weigh 149 and have thin wrists so it should look good on almost everybody.

Do a search on the Message Boards... there's a wealth of info out there on all makes.

Polar and Garmin are certainly the favouites. Get one with a chest-strap as these monitor heart rate constantly. They are not at all uncomfortable, even if you are as big as me 48" chest.

You pretty much get what you pay for and you have to decided what you want out of an HRM.

I have a Polar FT4. I bout it via Amazon in the UK and it was a realtively cheap model (£55... there are some HRMs that cost up to £400). It notes the time that I've exercised, the avHr and max HR and gives me a calulation of Calories burned. And that's really all I wanted. I cycle a lot so have a trip computer for the bike too that lets me work out speed and distance.

I have a Suunto M4 and I love it! check out the website www.suunto.com. There is a calculator on the site to help select one that is right for your needs. It will probably tell you where you can purchase them too. www.mec.ca has them online
  • I just got a Polar FT7 a couple of days ago. I ordered it from Amazon since it had the best price that I found. So far I like it. It's very easy to use, and only took a few minutes to set up. The strap is not uncomfortable, especially since as a female, I'm used to having something strapped around my chest. I think Polar actually has a bra now that you can buy that takes the place of the strap, but I felt that was a little too extreme for a beginner like me! :)

bodybugg. Scientifically proven. I know what I burn and when to eat to fuel myself until I eat again. We all have to eat. This way my calories do not overlap. I burn 100 less before every meal. The daily vibration of my fat storage and fat consumption is slight. my fat is dropping off me and my muscle is growing. When you loose weight you loose muscle also. But you can off balance the difference. Loose more fat and gain muscle.

I now know : (based on average)
each exercise calorie burn for later reference.
how many calories I burn between each meal.
how many calories I burn on a sit on my *kitten* day.
how many calories I burn in my sleep.
my calorie burn based upon my activities.

There is only one downfall to the bodybugg. It is it's food database. It does give you a weekly food chart to eat. I did not like it. Too carby for me. I finally started using this site and created my own meal calorie counts and find them by my initials I put on the lable of the foods. I know my reciepies, so inputing is now easy.

    I love it.
