This might have been posted before. I just wanted to know if anybody has actually had this little thing be correct? It keeps saying if every day is like today I'll be somewhere around 117-118 in 5 weeks which is my goal weight...I wanted to know if anybody has had this be true for them? Should I get excited when it says that or is it probably not as correct as I want it to be?

Hmm..I'd like to know too!0

Well if you are eating about the same amount of calories everyday. . Then yes as it says if EVERYday were like today .. . .you would weight blah blah blah. .
I have known peole that have had that be correct for them. . . Now if you tend to fluctuate day to day on that amount then figure it will be an average. . .
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi,
I did have success with the feature that says "if every day were like today..." As long as I kept my caloric amount about the same each day and didn't fluctuate, eventually I did hit many of the benchmarks the app projected. However, I know it's not a perfect science yet I have success with it being fairly accurate. I hope this helps!0 -
It's been pretty accurate for me to certain degree. As long as I've stayed close to my calorie goals I've achieved the projected weight within 10 weeks. My number keeps sliding though because I adjust my calorie goal each time I hit a new low for my weight.0

Yes it is true for me, I actually was a lower weight than it expected nearly each time.
It is also not very accurate for many, many users because they vary wildly in exercise or consumption of calories from day to day.0 -
I lost 35 lbs in about 3-4months by what they said on here. This is a great tool!0

Personal opinion is that we tend to OVER-estimate the number of calories we are burning (many time assumptions are made for normal size men versus women and small men like me). And we tend to UNDER-estimate the amount of calories we eat (by not measuring things but instead we inaccurately "guess" the amount we're eating or worse yet we don't count all the "little stuff" we eat -- but that "little stuff" adds up! So I think those values are a little optimistic.
If you look back at my progress starting in Nov 2010 you will see I lost my 31 pounds in my 13 weeks of P90X. I consistently lost 3 pounds per week for about 8 weeks, then I lost about 2 pounds per week for the next 3 weeks, and about 1 pound per week for the last 2 weeks. If memory serves me right I was not losing quite as fast as MFP said I would, but it was close (but I was VERY careful to weigh and include just about everything that I ate). But as my weight dropped my calories burned for the same activity went down as well. That same 20 minute walk I was taking twice per day burned less calories as before since I was carrying 31 pounds less around my waist line. So you need to adjust your calories burned by what a person YOUR size will burn for the level of activity you are performing.
Bottom line -- my opinion: If you honestly weigh/measure everything, and try to put accurate calories burned (e.g. don't count stretch times in your workout times and use a heart monitor or research best calorie estimates for your size) you will lose slightly less but close to what MFP says. I've found MFP to be the best site available for helping me manage my fitness -- as long as I'm honest in my tracking.0 -
Mine is often exact to within 1lb (assuming 5 weeks ago was a normal day) because I am very careful to log everything, and try to underestimate exercise and overestimate calories. I never believe it when I hit complete though. Copy and paste it into your food notes box and you'll see soon enough for yourself.0

Mine is roughly true. At the moment it is saying I will have lost 4lb in 5 weeks which at my current rate (0.5 - 1lb a week) is probably right.0

Nope, completely inaccurate for me. According to MFP I should be at my goal weight by now!! I am only halfway there! My weight loss has been slllooooowwwww but then again I am a healthy BMI so it will do.0

Yes! Get excited! it will help motivate your weight loss. I've noticed that the number also takes exercise into account, so on the days I don't exercise, the outlook is not as optimistic.0

It has been accurate for me in my experience, but I tend to eat the same amount of calories and even the same foods almost everyday. The weird thing for me is that I've even plateaued before for 2-3 weeks, and it was still accurate.0
