I’m 43 and have over 40lb to lose.
I’m not new to mfp but have been away waaaay to long.
Under active thyroid is making this all harder but not impossible - I will do this!
Need friends, so feel free to add me, let’s do this together.

In case you haven't read it, there's a really good thread here about hypothyroidism and weight management:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10767046/hypothyroidism-and-weight-management
It was written by an MFP-er who is a scientist in the field, is hypothyroid himself (surgically removed, IIRC), and who used calorie counting and MFP to lose weight. Solid information.
I'm severely hypothyroid myself (properly medicated). Honestly, it's refreshing to see someone like you saying that isn't weight loss doom . . . because IMO it isn't. (It's more common to see posts here thinking hypothyroidism makes loss completely unachievable, or nearly so. Weight loss has challenges for everyone, and hypothyroidism is one . . . but I don't believe it to be insurmountable.)
I'm at a different phase (year 6+ of maintaining a healthy weight, after previous decades of overweight/obesity) and kind of a sub-par MFP friend (more of a Community forum gal, I guess), but I wanted to stop by, say "Hi" and "Welcome Back", point out that good thread, and wish you much success!0
