New! Kind of...

I'm re-starting my weight loss using My Fitness Pal. I went from weighing 148 to 143 in a month, but this weekend (yesterday and today) I completely binged and blew my eating habits. So I'm assuming I probably gained back about 2 pounds of fat, 3 pounds of water...Most likely I'm back at 148 right now, but I put in 145 as my starting point because that's probably what I'll be by the end of the week. Anyways...I'm 16 years old, 5'4", and my goal weight is 130 Any support is greatly appreciated! Also, I set my net calories to 690 instead of 1200 to make sure I'm creating a 1,000 calorie deficit each day. This way, I can be guaranteed to lose 2 pounds a week. I'm not going to step on the scale until my birth control runs out, which will be in exactly 4 weeks starting tomorrow, in order to prevent me obsessing over a number. Good luck to all of you!!

I'm not a doctor or health expert or anything....but I'm pretty sure that isn't really taking a healthy approach to weight loss. 1200 calories is the minimum for a reason - your body won't be getting anywhere near enough nutrients if you are only eating 690 a day. Especially since you are still young and your body is still growing!
I am about the same height as you, and I had a starting weight of 149. I started at 1200 calories, and the first 6lb fell off. After that, the scale didn't move for awhile - not until I upped my calories to 1400. I know everyone's bodies work differently, but from what I have seen on this website, eating at 690 a day is not sustainable. Once you start eating normally, you will gain again. And if you don't plan on eating normally again, well, you are setting yourself up for either binge eating or anorexia. A more sustainable plan is to focus on eating healthier. It's a more gradual process, but it tends to have better long term affects.
Please don't take any of this as harsh - I'm just concerned for your health and safety :flowerforyou:

Welcome! You seem quite mature for a 16 year old. Good luck to you in your weight loss journey. You have come to the right place.0

I am not a doctor nor a nutritionist but i think your caloric intake is set way too low. I hope that you do some research on here and on the web to learn more about a safe way to lose weight. You are young so now is a good time to start living a healthy lifestyle. But also being young and striving to be thin at any cost could send you into a life of unhealthy eating disorders. i am not judging just do not want to see anyone suffer. Good luck to you.0

Try this at first, plug in the 2lbs and your profile info and eat back your calories.
I've been able to see great results, I eat pretty much what I want and I am not in a hurry to lose weight. I get upset when I don't see the scale move but my appearance is changing and the clothes fit so much better.
some weeks I didn't lost any weight and others it was 2-3 lbs. just remember that slow and steady wins the race.
My goal is to lose another 40lbs but I take it one day at a time. I am fine [even though I want an instant fix] if I don't get that until sometime 2012 but I try to make the better choices and exercise more and that is what matters to me.
I wish you the best on your journey and hope we can motivate each other.0
