Gluten Intolerance

I don't mind my gluten intolerance. I actually find it very helpful, there are few "cheat" foods I can even eat, that's really nice.

I don't drink often, but before I found out I was GI I drank Yuengling. Best beer in America. *Fist Pump!* (I'm a Pennsylvania girl, what do you expect?!) After I found out I was GI I mostly drank whiskey/bourbon or hard cider, depending on the situation. I found RedBridge today at the grocery store so I picked up a 6 pack. Oh. My. Gosh. It doesn't taste like beer. It doesn't taste anything like delicious Yuengling, it doesn't taste like beer at all. I understand why, no wheat. I just, wasn't expecting it to taste to un-beer-like.

I may go cry softly in the corner.

I had heard some good things about RedBridge, which is why I got it, anyone have any other GLUTEN FREE beer suggestions?

Redbridge is meh. My favorite is New Grist but I've also heard good things about Bard's Tale if you like darker beer. I'm not much of a drinker and never really was much of beer drinker and I've been off gluten for so long that I don't even know what regular beer tastes like anymore.

My dad has celiac disease and can't have gluten at all. His favorite is Estrella Damm Daura. It's a Spanish gluten-free beer and it actually tastes like beer. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I honestly can't tell a difference between it and many other 'real' beers I've tried.

My dad was a lifelong beer aficianado. He loved trying different craft beers and stopping at microbreweries. He was devastated when he was diagnosed with celiac disease a couple years ago and could no longer have beer. The Daura beer has really filled the void for him!

Thanks all! Is this Daura beer available in the states?

We've found it at Whole Foods and Wegman's. It was also on the bar menu at quite a few places when we vacationed in Maine over the summer.

Edited... Just noticed you're in Reston! You should have no problem finding this beer. My parents live in Vienna and they have no problem finding it at their grocery stores.

Hahaha, I used to live in Vienna until about 6 months ago. You just made my day MUCH better.
