Small Success 25lbs

I started dieting sometime in December but my weight was going up and down and I was going nowhere. I lost a few pounds, but I gained it back after a personal trainer nearly crippled me. Well, he did temporarily. He aggravated some injured areas, and I had to totally stop and recover. Sorry he had to lose my business, but I warned him of my injuries. I really want to do more weight training.
I don't remember where I found the information, maybe a youtube suggestion, but I started intermittent fasting in February. I started slowly, first with 16 hour fasts and eating 8 hours. That's as simple as skipping breakfast.
Then I worked up to fasting 20 hours and eating in a 4 hour window. Because I worked up to it over time, I was never hungry. Plus, I always ate enough to keep me full for the rest of the night, at least. Then in the morning it was as easy as skipping breakfast.
I know some people think that these fasting "diets" are "voodoo". But I think the big part for me was setting a schedule, I start eating at noon and finish by 4pm, and it eliminates snacking. So, it works for me.
I still go out for fast food, and tonight I'm having my favorite Thai dinner. The salt will stall me for a day, but it really doesn't matter what I eat, otherwise. I'm so happy I figured this out. I've been doing it for 30 days and I know it's something I can sustain. I hope someday I'll be back here posting that I lost 100 pounds. (Hope I didn't just jinx myself!)
PS I still may be morbidly obese, but I feel so good!

I’m so happy for you! It’s funny how we almost quit before it happens, right. Cheers!2

Kudos for you in figuring out what works best for you. I'm doing the same thing, finally realising that not all plans work together for my good. Good luck, keep reaching for your goal.0

Good work so far!
Sounds silly and kinda woo, but change your wording to change your mindset.
“Diet” implies temporary.
Retrain your brain that this is a lifestyle change, and make sure you’re developing habits you can stay with for a lifetime.1 -
Congrads!! I would not say that 25 is a small success, give your self credit. It is ok that you tripped, just do day by day. Fasting never worked for me (low blood sugar) I lost the diet concept and work towards healthier eating! Have lost 20 that I have been struggling with for years, now just trying to stay on track as much as possible.
Good luck! You can do this..:)2 -
That's wonderful! Congratulations! I too have tried all different sorts of eating schedules, and have found that delaying breakfast until about 10 or 11 AM, (when I start to feel hungry, because my body seems to have trained not to have early morning hunger), then having a light lunch a couple hours later, topped off by a light dinner 3-4 hours after that, has worked best for me. I also sleep a lot better if I stop eating by 4 PM -5 PM. My whole body feels better on this schedule, and I have more energy in the morning especially, but really all day long, because my portions are small, around 400 calories each meal. If I go out for dinner, I just skip lunch and go for an early bird experience budgeting about 800 calories for the meal (taking the rest home) and a skinny margharita made with grapefruit seltzer instead of mix, after which it is still light out, so I can go for a walk. I'm finding this the easiest way to lose weight even though I can't do heavy exercise at the moment due to injuries. I'm down 17 pounds and do not feel deprived. One thing I should add is that with eating only about 1,200 calories a day, every calorie counts, so I have to stay away from snacking and junk food, so I don't bring that food into the house. My husband is OK with that, THANK GOODNESS! Congratulations again on losing 25 pounds, and I look forward to hearing about your next 25!!!! Thanks for posting!0
