My Online Fitness and Nutrition Coach

I have signed up for a coach and I will be speaking with her for the first time on Wednesday. I want to get the most out of this so I would like to hear about anyone's experience with their coach good or bad.

I have a coach and see him in person or online most weeks. Here’s what helps me to get the most out of the relationship:
    1. Be clear about what you want to achieve - they can only programme appropriately if you’re honest (ie if you want to lose weight, grow a huge bum, run a marathon). I had three aims when I started seeing him and I had thought long and hard about them (and no I wasn’t trying to grow a huge bum).
    2. If you don’t understand something keep asking until you do. You’re paying them - so make sure you know how to do exercises and why (if you are at all confused or concerned)
    3. Give them feedback ie “I found that hard, that was easy, I’m not sure I did that correctly, can we adjust the volume?” So that they can change your programme to suit you.
    4. This one is a bit mixed - if you’re unhappy with them, then challenge them and ask for clarification (some coaches are not worth the paper their qualification is printed on). But, if you’re happy with them, then follow the programme and do what you’re told. I’ve never understood why people pay good money and then don’t follow the programme - if you’re not able or willing to follow the programme then save the money!
    5. Make sure you can respect them and work with them. If not, cut your losses and find someone you can work with. There are tonnes of coaches out there and they all have different styles - it’s important to find someone you trust and want to work with as it won’t be the easiest journey (they are there after all to push us).

I was incredibly lucky and found my first PT by chance and he then turned into my coach - I’ve learnt a huge amount from him, even though I sometimes shout at him 🤷‍♂️

Hey, I have an online coach, and some tips that helped me.
    • Check-in weekly, even if you haven't been 100%. We can all have an off day or a social event but that doesn't mess the whole week up.
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Plan your workouts into your day - I find if I have in the diary I will do it
    • Be honest let them know if the food isn't working or the workouts aren't doing it for you
    • Get some steps in
