I am taking Kickboxing Aerobics this quarter. I am curious how I should log this. Kickboxing or Aerobics? What do you guys think? logging it as Kickboxing, I earn back 810 calories and with general Aerobics I earn back 521 calories.

If you don't have an HRM, I would use the less of the two. Better to use the lower one than the higher one just in case.

It's aerobics until you actually hit someone in the face.

Are you doing any sparring? Or just Kickboxing moves as a workout?

If you are sparring I would say go with the higher number.

It also depends on the intensity of your class. My martial arts class that includes kickboxing is brutal! 2 hrs with only a small break about half way through for about 2 minutes.

    Good luck and have fun!

I would HIGHLY recommend getting a HRM. Before I had mine, MFP was grossly over-estimating how many calories I was burning during exercise (does that mean I'm in better shape than it thinks I should be??). Example - 60 minutes of biking 12-14 MPH on MFP was almost 800, when in actuality is was just over 500! That many calories could really mess up a weight loss plan, eh?

Anyway, if you want to be truly accurate, the HRM is the only way to go. They are not that expense and YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

I would love to get one as soon as my Financial aid hits. However, the school just told me that they wont get around to looking at my application until mid November. This will be about two weeks before finals.

As for sparring, I am not sure. My friend said that last year there was a lot of running, going through sequences and finally sparing with the pillows. I will know tonight what the format is.
