Trying to get back to it

About the time that I got married, 11 years ago, I was working out pretty hard. I had a trainer, took classes, biking but never got the results that I was looking for, diet probably didn't help.
I'm not trying to look like Arnold or anything I just want to slim down

If "slim down" means "lose some fat" then getting your eating at the right level is the crucially important thing.
Exercise is great, and burns a few calories, but it's pretty easy to eat those few extra calories (especially if exercise makes you feel hungry (or deserving 😉)).
Eat a manageable number of calories fewer than it takes to keep your weight constant, and you'll lose fat, even without increasing exercise.
Wishing you success!1 -
I agree with the last reply. Diet is everything. One suggestion by a coworker who used to compete was at my age (44) increase my protein to 40% of my total calories. That's a lot but with so e practice I got there. In 8 weeks I lost 10# and cut a ton of fat. Never had a 6 pack untill 44. And protein takes more calories to break down than fat or carbs so you get volume with less impact on body fat. Also weight training worked much better than cardio (and it's less monotonous) for recompositioning my body. Just my few thoughts.0
