Intermittent fasting ~ should I invest in a book?

Hi all my fellow mfpals!
I am interested in trying the if way of eating. In my past and lowest weight I kind of ate this way. For whomever has tried this, do you recommend it? Also, is it worth investing in the $40 eat stop eat book or another title? Thanks for your input in advance!

I just started last night at 6pm. I'm starting with leangains.com. You can also get some info at theiflife.com. There is a great intermittent fasting thread here on MFP. I think you may be able to find it thru the Search.

I think IF definitely has its place, but I'm not a big fan of ESE. As mentioned by the previous poster, I would comb through the leangains.com website first and then decide if you want to explore other types of IF protocols. Berkhan is ummatched in this area.0

I'm not sure how much you can put in a book about not eating for certain number of hours and eat again in your eating period. Martin Berkhan from leangains.com has been in process of publishing a book but that has been a few years now. Last I heard, he's still working on it. This is where I got started. He has lots of great info on his site. Look under "Most Popular" if you want a quick start. Martin's method is 16 hours fast with a 8 hour eating period. If you workout, it is ideal to have your biggest meal after your workout. There is also the Warrior Diet which is 20 hours fast with 4 hour eating period. I guess it depends on your tolerance.0

You can download the book at fast-5.com.0

I think it depends a little bit on how interested in the "gears" of the science you are. It's an easy read, but has a lot of technical data. I liked the book! Maybe $40 was a little much, but I have re-read it a few times and enjoy having the reference. Leangains is my favorite method, but the ESE book is super thought-provoking.0
