I would love to hear about the ebike. I almost bought one at the start of the pandemic, but chickened out. I only really learned to ride a bike as an adult and have always been a bit nervous riding around cars. That coupled with the challenges getting up and down hills with groceries etc. made me hesitant to think about a normal bike. Ebikes seemed to take at least one of those worries away. I also thought about adult tricycles! But thought I might be embarassed ….5

Hi I'm back! I am a 38 year old wife and mom trying to work to get healthier! I started this journey in Dec 2019 at 231 lbs. It is always a slow go for me but I am trying to be more consistent.

Mary 65 now, from Pennsylvania.
Heaviest weight 255 lbs, twice. :-(
UGW-122 lbs. I was there in 2009/10 and kept it off for 5 years then got lazy.
My goal is to continue with what seems to work for me. 1000-1200 calories, low carb 15 Net +/- 3(My body seems to not do well with carbs. It doesn't know how to burn them and hangs onto them way too much!), minimum 70 + oz of water, 2 meals/day on my days off(3) and 3 meals on my work days(which are long), exercise on my 3 days off. My weigh in day is Sunday.
9/14/20 SW-255 lbs
5/3/21-240.5 lbs Emergency Gallbladder surgery
5/14/21-232.2 lbs started MFP and Low Carb/1000-1200 calorie while recovering
6/1/21-228.8 lbs
7/1/21-222.2 lbs
8/1/21-212.0 lbs
9/1/21-200.0 lbs
10/1/21-191.4 lbs
11/1/21-181.8 lbs
12/1/21-176.2 lbs
12/26/21-165.6 lbs
1/1/22-168 lbs
2/1/22-157.4 lbs
3/1/22- 155 lbs
4/1/22- 156.4 lbs :-(
5/1/22- 158.8 lbs. :-( No way is this actual with all the Elliptical miles Friday, yesterday and stayed way under calories for what I was allotted. Hoping for a whoosh soon. Did Elliptical 300 minutes for 22.3 miles in first session and 54 minutes for 4.2 miles for 26.5 miles total today. Hopefully that gets me heading downward again. (Did long times on Friday 228 minutes and Saturday 240 minutes too.)
5/8/22- 148 lbs :-) So glad for the whoosh of water weight to be gone!!!

I have 2 surgeries scheduled for June, gallbladder removal and hysterectomy do you guys have any advice for after the surgery to help stay on track?
5 -
@poodiebeer My emergency gallbladder surgery on 5/3/21 is what kicked me to get into shape. I was reading post up care and read that "some people tend to gain weight after gallbladder surgery." I had lost 15 lbs prior to this without trying. I said to myself "How unfair after losing 15 lbs without trying to lose" (I had started a new job 9/14/20). So I was being very careful with food amounts afterwards since I was sitting around. I lost 8 lbs in a few days and then started MFP 5/14/21 on a Keto diet, which the traditional way of eating so much fat was too hard for me to get in. A lady on one of the forums, @baconslave , here gave me the advice to watch my carbs (I do extremely low carb, 15 + or - 3 net carbs/day) and let my fat & protein fall where they may. I do make sure I have a decent amount of protein with each meal. I also do 1000-1200 calories/day. Needless to say I have lost 107 lbs since 9/14/2020. My hysterectomy for a prolapse was in 2010.7

Hey everyone! I'm jumping in and getting a late start in this challenge. It's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm in desperate need of motivation. Gained 15lbs since Dec. 2020 and having an extremely difficult time losing. Wanting to lose weight while toning and gaining muscle.

I've been working hard staying within 1100-1200 calories (except my 1x/wk cheat meal), averaging 8000-11000 steps/day, and weight training 3x/wk. Hoping that this downward trend continues. I'm struggling with the issue that my son sent me a gift box of macarons from a fancy patisserie for Mother's Day (not knowing that I'm trying to lose weight). I feel guilty for not eating any but I've been really good about cutting out sugar and actually don't have a physical desire to eat them. I know he put some thought into the gift (I have celiacs and can't eat gluten thus macarons are gluten free) and they cost quite a bit to purchase and ship.7 -

I let a few days go by after returning home from my week away at “healthy summer camp for women”. With water weight and jet lag dissipating I am 138.8. Not sure if that is good or bad, since my goal is to get solidly into the 130s but then continue to maintain and rebuild and tone muscle while there, since I have some saggy areas after losing weight over this past year. (Let’s just say Kim Kardashian has nothing to worry about from my booty).
Overall I felt really good at the health spa compared to the previous year. I had amazing amounts of energy and endurance and although I worried I would have lost strength, the fact that I had lost 50 + lbs meant I had so much less of me to haul up the mountain every morning, or to curl into yoga and pilates poses and could actually “breathe into them” because I could breathe! (I don’t care how flexible you are or how body accepting I was, I really couldn’t breathe the previous year when twisted around and bent over with extra weight around my midsection, even if I could reach whatever body part I was stretching for).
I am saying all this to encourage folks to do weight loss the slow and sustainable way on MFP not by trying crash diets or eating in ways that you won’t find sustainable for the long term. I am sure I could have lost the 52 lbs faster than in 14 months, but I would have lost a lot more muscle, had a lot more saggy skin, and run the risk of losing energy and harming my health. As a cancer survivor I also didn’t need my hair falling out again, or more brittle nails and bones than I already have and I don’t want to be yo yo dieting and regaining more than I lost.
I am now set to move my saggy butt and make it less saggy, and crunch my newly visible abs for whatever reason we are told to do so! Thanks to all of you for providing continued motivation to check in and keep going.13 -
Hey, a little late to the party but would like to join in!
I'm 53 and live in Florida. I am a fitness trainer, and boxer and spend most of my free time at the beach!
My next weigh-in is Monday the 16th but right now after several months of eating/drinking like I'm on vacation and lifting massive weights, I am sitting at 150. Trying to get back to 130!9 -

I am a 5'4" 60 year old retiree living in upstate NY. I started back up using MFP on January 3rd and have lost 27.9 lbs to date.
Thank you RubyRed427 for continuing the challenge!
Participating in the last 15lb challenge really helped to motivate me and keep me on track so here I am again. I will be weighing in no more than once per week and am switching my weigh in day to Friday since that works better for me during the summer.
I am setting my challenge goal for 15 lbs again. Not sure if I'll make it this time since summertime in and of itself is a challenge for me. We spend every weekend at camp where someone is always having a BBQ or party. However, I'm hopeful that with the nicer weather I'll be able to increase my daily exercise minutes. I am SO looking forward to saying goodbye to the 200's!!

Welcome to our new friends!
Nice to see the progress you are making and I like the tips!
I met a goal this week: hiked 2 times in the woods and went on a bike ride -14 miles today. I won't be feeling that good tomorrow at work- I know I'll be sore, but it was good to sweat and ride near a river, in a tunnel, under bridges... such beautiful scenery.10
