I am stuck at a weight plateau and I can not seem to break through. I just don't know what else to try. I am working out all the time and eating quite a lot, 2100 calories because of that. I am running trying to get ready for a half marathon in Dec. and then doing Insanity workouts at home. Since losing weight I have kept track of calories and ate in moderation because I wanted it to be a lifestyle change and not a diet so I still eat chocolate and things that aren't great for you I just try not to go crazy. I am just to the point that I don't know what the problem is and I still want to lose more. Just thought you might have some thoughts on this topic. Thanks!!!!

Maybe your body needs a break. Anything that shocks the body usually helps break a plateau. Try taking it easy for a day or two (and eat less calories because you won't need so many if you're not working so hard), and see if that helps.

How many calories are you burning with exercise and how many actual food calories are you allowing? Do you eat back all of your exercise calories? Have you possibly tried increasing your water intake to flush out your system?

I was at a bit of a plateau about 2 weeks ago and then I introduced a different workout regime to my system and lost 5-6 lbs in 2 weeks. Like the PP said, you need to shock your system into thinking somethings different.

Thanks ladies. To answer your question I am burning between 500-600 when I run short runs but the other day when I ran I burned 1380 calories with a 12.1 mile run. I don't have a heart rate monitor but I am assuming I am burning at least 400 calories when I do Insanity. I don't usually try to eat back all the calories that is just the number (2100) that the Beachbody website told me to eat. I am just frustrated and it's hard to keep on track when you aren't seeing any results.

I think part of your problem lies in not owning a HRM. You're never really sure how much you burn, so you could be over (or under) eating. Kmart has them for $30.

Do you eat all your calories from exercising? What calorie range works for you?

I have a Sportline (again, from Kmart, $30). I've been experimenting with eating back my calories. When I had them set at 1200, I hardly ever did because I wasn't hungry. I've upped my calories to 1460 and I eat a good portion back because I'm doing much harder workouts and am usually pretty hungry, so I figure I need the extra energy. I've been doing it for about a week and lost a pound, but it could be just from the shock to my body. Not sure yet.

Eating healthy food instead of junk food makes a BIG difference! You should try it for a week. Lean protein like chicken and fish and LOTS of veggies. Sounds like you are doing an amazing job so far but to get what you want you have to make sacrifices. Maybe save the sweets for a weekend treat. Keep it up!
