Attention: Competitive Swimmers

How do you log your workouts? Using MFP estimates ? A mixture of different website estimates?
I have been averaging estimates from different sites, but found that I was really hungry by the end of the weekend, so maybe the estimates were too small?
What is your experience ? Again, this is for those who swim competitively or on a team (or have previously).

Oh man, I hear you on this. I don't quite meet your criteria, but figured I could answer, seeing that I'm an ex-competitive swimmer (training on my own now until I can find a Masters team around here with hours that work for me). I've found logging calories to be very difficult, particularly if I'm doing drills or interval training. I use an HRM for dryland exercise, and found that I burn about 400-500 calories per hour with running, so I've been approximating 400 per hour with swimming, which matches up pretty well with MFP's estimate for me...I find that leaves me famished, though, so I have a feeling I'm underestimating. Either that, or swimming just really intensifies one's appetite... So, I feel your pain.
I will be watching this topic with much interest!0 -

Haha ex-competitive swimmers welcome too
I used to be really hardcore into it, but quit 4 years ago. Just recently joined the Masters on my old team ^_^ When I wasn't on the team, I would swim on my own just like you, and only use the MFP estimates, they seemed to work for me then, but yeah now I'm usually really hungry ;(
I really hope others chime in! I'm a perfectionist, so I /need/ the most exact estimate and method I can get.0 -
i'd like to know! i swim 3 days a week at work and have no idea how much i burn. i don't get too tired but i usually put in 3000 yards0
