Going back to childhood

So I watch my kids - they do this radical thing - they eat when they are hungry and don't when they aren't. And they are healthy and in great shape. I know, it's shocking!

Sounds silly but I wonder if many people (and I fully include myself in this) have lost the art of listening to what our body needs. Not what someone else tells us we need, not what our emotions tell us we need, and not even (gasp) what MFP tells us we need.

We are all different and perhaps it's time we stop trying to follow rules, then look to invent more when those ones don't work. Which results in us losing faith in our own bodies.

Going to give it a try.

GREAT POST! I have been to extensive therapy and eating disorder counseling, and ultimately, your body is the most accurate "calorie counter" of all :) So many of us have grown used to either restricting or overindulging our bodies, that it can take awhile to truly get in touch with your body again.

Very good point! We are all so quick to follow what other say and never give a chance for our own bodies to dictate what it needs.

But my daughter has being eating sand in the sandpit lately. Maybe that helps digestion...
