Hi. My name Barbara. I am 64 years old. I am not sure if there is anybody using this app in my age group. I have had a busy year and a half. I had bariatric surgery in late 2020. 5 months later I replaced both my knees. It has taken a lot to finally get back in the gym. I have been going at least 3 times a week for about 6 weeks. I am looking to make it a daily thing. I have a personal trainer and she has really made a difference in how I workout.

Welcome Barbara. I'm Evelyn. I'm 66 and I just joined today. Trying to find my way around the site and see how things work. It's a bit overwhelming as it's my first time using online. Hope your knees are feeling better.1

Welcome Barbara! I will be 64 in July. Good to meet you. I have only been here a few weeks and have been losing slowly but surely. I am more physically active than before I started and each day I push myself to do more. I am so happy to have someone in my age group to talk with. Sounds like you have gone through a lot. I pray for a speedy recovery and much success on your journey.

Welcome @barbmorgen007 .. I am 77 and have been a member of MFP a few months now. Actually, I had been a member from2012 to about 2016 under a different profile, went off it for a while (ha, like 5 years!). During the time I was 'on my own' I did lose more weight, but I started feeling kind of lonely for these threads under Community so I came back. Also, I was still 'logging all my food' but into a spreadsheet on my computer and decided that MFP might be an easier method in the end.
Also welcome to @3rdtimelosesit ... It IS overwhelming to learn the ins and outs of this app when you first start it. Hope your learning curve is short.
And, Hello @BeYourBestSelfDeb ... a big birthday is just around the corner for you ...
There are people over 60 and there is a thread for it called "60 Yrs and up" ... I think it's under this same category of introducing yourself.
Hope to 'speak' with you all again.0 -
@nsk1951 I doubt the learning curve will be short... I'll concentrate on learning how to input my food and exercise. Was alarmed by what I learned about my meatballs...lol Won't be eating them anymore.0

Here's a direct link to the over 60 group @nsk1951 mentioned:

Don't be dismayed if you open it up, and see old posts on page 1. Like any long-running discussion thread here, the new posts are at the end, on the high-numbered pages. It's still very active.
Me, I'm F, 66, used MFP to lose from class 1 obese to a healthy weight back in 2015-16 (when I was 59-60, and hypothyroid if that matters (I think it doesn't)). I've been hanging around here for 6+ years since to maintain a healthy weight . . . so far, so good.
Welcome to MFP: This can work for us, at our age! We even have some advantages, I think, knowing ourselves very well, and having experience achieving other big goals by chipping away at them patiently over a long time period (home, family, education, career and more). Weight management and fitness improvement can exploit that same self-knowledge, and those same skills.
Wishing you all much success!0
