Hey folks. I’m a 37 year old father of 2 handsome boys. (16 & 9) I have also been married to my beautiful wife Angela for almost 17 years! I have struggled with weight ever since high school and have decided that now is a good time to buckle down and not just lose weight but get healthy so I can stick around and watch my boys grow up and also stick around at least another 17 years with my wife.

I started a new job May 16, 2022. It was a hard decision but it has been the best decision I’ve made pertaining to a job in a long time. I figured since I was making the job change, why not try to change my life and my health for not only myself but my family.

As of May 16 this year I weighed an even 400lbs. (Not real happy about that) I started counting calories and also making better choices of what I ate and WHEN I ate as well. As of June 13th I have lost 20lbs. That was with diet alone and of course drinking at least a gallon of water a day.

I also made the decision to join a gym on June 13th. It’s been a long time since I’ve stepped foot in a gym. Fear of being judged and especially being one of the biggest guys in the room. Monday I will have made it through week 1 at the gym and I’m anxious to see if the scale has moved. (I weigh on Monday mornings).

That’s just a little of my story. Looking forward to this long journey ahead and with apps and communities like MFP, it does make things a little easier.

Welcome! I also started at over 400, but have gotten under that mark recently. Hope you do well with your weight loss and health journey. And hope you enjoy using the website here.

Welcome! I started at 300 lbs and have had plenty of ups & downs since but, thankfully, never back up that high since. Going back to the gym was probably the one thing I feared most when I started getting my health in check too. In fact, I remember days of not staying to work out if I was the largest person in that day.
You can do this and there is an amazing community of people here to help any time you need encouragement.
