2 questions: stretching: Not quite holding a stretch but not bouncing either

Not Holding.
I've heard that bouncing in a stretch is more likely to cause injury than holding it. I kind of move a cm or two in and out of the stretch. It's just really uncomfortable to hold it without pretty frequent adjustment.
(Ex. Straightening and slightly bending the leg I'm reaching for.)
Is that okay?
Am I getting a lesser stretch?

I'm not sure that I'm explaining that well.

SECOND QUESTION:
Stretching Weird Directions.
This is mostly aimed at gymnasts, dancers, cheerleaders, etc.

I know that there are correct and incorrect body and leg positions for the different stunts/moves. A lot of main stretches seem to stretch for a particular move. I find that there are plenty of other places that I'm tight though. Do you ever stretch in weird directions? Any info on that topic?
(Ex stretching your right leg up towards the left across your chest.)

I checked around and haven't seen this addressed before.

Totally ok to move slowly while stretching. Generally, as you exhale in a stretch, it will be easier to deepen the stretch. Don't push past pain.

The stretch you reference in your second question isn’t weird at all and as a runner I frequently stretch that way. I don’t bounce my stretches but will breathe into a stretch.
