I have started down this path many times. Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again this time more intelligently (Henry Ford). I have looked back at past attempts and tried to figure out what caused me to fail.

For me it was a few things. I was rushing the process. I wanted results and fast. I also gave myself hard core rules. Which I couldn’t keep. What I expected of myself was unrealistic.

This time I am working on good habits (instead of rules). I am working on making my weight trend down but not setting weight loss expectations. I am logging everything and considering it data instead of feeling bad every time I put something in my mouth. I am learning how to eat within my desired macros and calories and still feel full. I am not trying to starve myself.

I will cont to learn. I wish I nailed it the first time but I am learning from it and all other attempts. I refuse to believe I can’t do this. I just needed to learn.

    Best of luck to you.

I am not an expert and don’t claim to be. But I have found the habits I have established have become easier to keep up. Easy? No. But I got some wonky lab results and decided that living with the results of not doing it (stroke, diabetes, arthritis, etc) won’t be easy either. So I am choosing this version of hard.

You can’t look at the mountain. It is cliché but you can only tackle the day ahead of you. So just do that.

Hi Kathy. Mirtri, I love what you said. I just posted to Brian (Bdiddy) who also is returning after dropping MFP. I am trying to consolidate lessons I have learned from other programs. Life keeps presenting new challenges, or another way of looking at it is that when we begin to establish a new habit we get presented with challenges that test our resolve. That testing is strengthening. Every time we go with an old, unhelpful habit we strengthen that habit and every time we decide instead to go with the new plan of action (new habit) we strengthen it. Resistance training! This is Real weight lifting. :)
