Airports and travel

I have access to most of the lounges at the airports and I travel every week. I enjoy the lounges as they are comfortable and of course the free food and drink....and that's the problem. What d]ticks can I employ to avoid the constant grazing in the airport lounge?

Some general suggestions to avoid mindless grazing anywhere:
- brush teeth with a strongly flavored toothpaste: tends to make EVERYTHING else taste bad
- pack/ carry pre portioned snacks instead
- sit on the other side of the lounge away from the feed trough
- pre-log anything you "plan" to eat. Stare at the numerology and ask yourself "is it worth it to tank my good habits for the day by eating this piece of [pastry/ roast beef/ whatever?
Then, specifically for your travels, maybe give some mindful thought to just exactly what you're "hungry" for when you want to graze between flights, and just what the size and shape of that "hole" you are filling food really is. Could it be the "Lonely" hole, or the "Bored" hole? Can you fill it with some activity?- Lonely? Figure out a way to connect to others. Call or text someone on your phone? Strike up a conversation? Write diary or journal entries to share with a loved one later?
- Bored? How about reading a book, carrying a sketchpad and doodling, start writing the Great American Novel?

If you are actually hungry rather than just bored/lonely/getting your money’s worth there are usually things like veggies, fruit , yogurt. Drinks wise there is always tea, water/sparkling water. Think about how bloated and dehydrated and possibly the digestive upset and skin issues other things on offer like alcohol, caffeine, candy, cookies, and chips will give you and ask whether the poor quality of the airline food is worth the calories combined with the ill effects they cause your body at altitudes. Consider downloading a meditation app and before you decide to load up your plate at the lounge do a 10 minute meditation. Practice mindfulness and patience and bank those calories for an upgraded (in quality) restaurant meal wherever you are going.0
