Upload Penzey's Spices Catalog into Food Database

Options
Recently, I suggested that MyFitnessPal upload the Savory Spice Shop product catalog into the food database. Savory Spice Shop (www.savoryspiceshop.com) is a family-owned and run Denver-based spice business with 29 locations nationwide. Penzey's Spices www.penzeys.com is another family-run competitor with stores nationwide. Uploading their catalog would also be helpful.

    Savory Spice Shop (www.savoryspiceshop.com), a family-owned and run Denver-based
spice business with 29 locations nationwide, offers >400 fresh ground herbs and spices 140 hand-blended seasonings organic selections and gift sets. The product is ground and blended to order weekly to ensure superior freshness. Customers are encouraged to sample products and have packaged only the amounts that they need starting at as little as a half ounce. Please contact them and upload their entire catalog so new and old customers can find their nutrition information in your database. I'm a long term customer and use their products almost daily.

MFP’s database is entirely crowd sourced beyond an original data dump from the USDA. They don’t upload anything. If you’re interested in tracking spices, you’d either need to convince Penzey or Savory (love them!) to make their own entries or enter them yourself as you go.

That being said, most calories in dried spices are negligible, so it’s hard to tell if it would be worth the trouble.

What @COGypsy said. :+1: A vast majority of the database is entered by users and at this time there isn't a business data set import process.

Here's a rundown of how to add food to the database if you or anyone else that comes across this thread needs it.

    Yup...MFP doesn't populate the database, it's crowdsourced
